War Eagles in Arkansas thriller

The West Tennessee War Eagles traveled to the historic Little Rock Central High School to face off with the Arkansas Pirates. The War Eagles jumped out to an early threepoint lead off a 53-yard field goal made by Sean Fraser. Less than a minute later, the defense made their presence known whenBrownsville’sSteven Turner sacked the Pirate quarterback for a loss of two yards. In the beginning of the second quarter, down 6-3, the War Eagle defense held strong with three consecutive pass breakupstopreventanArkansas touchdown. Malik Fryer brought down the Pirate runner, causing a turnover on a down later in the second. The offense reemerged in the second half, beginning with a 21 yard pass from Ryan Scott to Josh Person. These touchdowns brought the score at the conclusion of the third quarter to 28-18. Three minutes

into the fourth quarter Scott connected with Justin Mood on a 17-yard touchdown pass, bringing the War Eagles within a field goal. With about three minutes remaining in the game, Sean Fraser tied the score at 28 with a 52-yard field goal. Unfortunately on the final offensive drive, RyanScottwasintercepted with39secondsremaining, resulting in the 36-28 final score. Ryan Scott went 18 of 33 for 224 yards, three touchdowns, and a twopoint conversion. Leading receiver was Josh Person with seven receptions for 183 yards and two touchdowns. Scott led rushers with eight carries for 53 yards and Antonio Cole with 16 carries for 49 yards. War Eagle running backs had 27 carries for 114 yards. The next scheduled game for the War Eagles will be in Memphis this Saturday against the Memphis Blast.

All-American Honorees Ricarnecia Johnson (kneeling left), Molly McAdams (kneeling right), Taylor Primrose (standing left) and Madison Eubanks (standing right) were named to the UCA All-American Cheer Squad that will travel to London, England for New Year’s to perform.

It was recently announced that four Haywood football cheerleaders have been named to the UCA All-American squad. Freshmen Ricarnecia Johnson and Molly McAdams along with juniors Madison Eubanks and Taylor Primrose were selected by UCA staff to be a part of this squad. The All-American team will travel to London, England, to perform at various venues for the New Year ’s celebration. The ladies will be taken on several tours of the city as well as meet different British officials while on this trip. We congratulate these ladies on their accomplishment; more information will be released at a later date.
