News of Years Gone By Friday, December 12, 1980 Crowd Endorses Christmas Parade as “The Best Ever” An impressive parade, with great participation by the local churches, schools, industries and businesses attracted a huge crowd to the Rescue Squad-Chamber of Commerce sponsored Christmas Parade, last Friday night. An estimated 3,000 Brownsvillians turned out to watch the array of floats, bands, motorcycles, cars and clowns and of course, Santa Claus.

Shrine Club units from Memphis, Jackson and Brownsville kept the crowd well entertained with their motorcycle and car antics, as the clowns delighted the young and old. Lynn Staggs won the lawn mower and Darrell Lindsey won the mo-ped in the Rescue Squad give-away. The two machines were manufactured by MTD.
