Anderson celebrates Patriot’s Day

Corner Katherine Horn Thank you so very much Sheronda for an excellent Lunch & Learn presentation last week. Sheronda Green, Director for the Brownsville YMCA, gave an overview of the YMCA programs and history and the unveiling of the new logo. Thank you, Sheronda, for taking time to be with us and please come again. The Elma Ross Public Library Board has issued a new signage policy for the library. It is as follows: Unless otherwise required by law or allowed by exception in accordance with the provisions below, temporary and permanent signage on the property of Elma Ross Library, including building and grounds, shall relate only to library related events, programs, and/or events supported by the library, including those of the Friends of the Library. Exceptions may be granted for nonprofit or charitable causes upon application to the Director of the Library in writing and approval by unanimous agreement and in the discretion of the

Director, the Chairman of the Board, and Treasurer. The application must be made at least ten days in advance of placement of the sign, and include the following information: the name of the person or organization requesting the placement of the signage and contact information including phone numbers and/or email address, the purpose for the signage, the exact language of the signage, the dimensions of the signage, and the beginning and end dates for the placement of the signage. Signs must be professional in appearance and not detract from the aesthetics of the building and grounds of the library. Exposed metal or wood road stakes, as supports for such signage are impermissible. Additionally, any temporary signage must comply with and be authorized in accordance with the laws, ordinances, regulations, and policies of the City of Brownsville. We hope that everyone is having a good fall. It is a great time to get a book to read. And as always – Happy Reading!

All over Anderson Friday, September 10, students learned about our country, our flag, and our founders with lots of Patriot Day activities. Students in Mrs. Sami Jo Gore’s class learned about the flag. Students in Mrs. Krista Parker’s class also learned about the U. S. flag and the Pledge of Allegiance. Other classes made hats and flags and all kinds of patriotic things.
