Williams’ Home Hosts Tenth Review Club Christmas Brunch By: Marty Williams Our club thought things would simmer down a bit after they had created 20 Samaritan Purses with lightening speed, at the Chamber in November, but, as is customary, things got a bit animated at the Williams’ home for the Christmas Brunch! Now, we LOVE our Christmas brunches! After so many years, we now have a certain skill in preparing for these celebrated brunches! Without a doubt, one or two members will pop in early and jump in to help. Since my mother was visiting, I wanted her to meet all the beloved members of our group. I got a little distracted and was running behind, so Rita and JoAnne’s extra hands were more than appreciated when they popped in that morning! As always, our goodies were to die for! They were spread across two counters and nearly before we got through

chatting and the prayer, Rita and JoAnne had already whizzed through the line and were “getting down with everything that had been on the counter! This year, we again had Jane Hopkins do the blessing and it was especially poignant. After the members drifted to their desired eating areas, the chatter went into high gear! We ate more than we thought humanly possible! A number of trips were made to the counter! Since a handful of members were on a deadline, we scampered into the sunroom to get everyone’s Secret Pal gift to them. The paper flew! So many “oooohs and “ahhhhhhs traveled around the room! All the members treasured their gifts and were able to brag on them during “show and tell. All of a sudden paper was scrunched up, plates thrown in the trash, dishes covered, food shared, handbags grabbed and the members were

dashing out the door with hugs and kisses. It is the most jam-packed 90 minutes of our lives and we absolutely cannot do without it! It just kicks the season off for all of us and makes us thrilled and thankful we all have one another. Another year of giggling, stuffing ourselves senseless, solving the worlds’ problems in the Williams’ kitchen and being grateful for each other has passed. If a person has to hang out with a bunch of the same women for years, we couldn’t get any more blessed than we are. They are awesome! Merry Christmas! We also opted to take a Wish List Child from the Carl Perkins Advocacy Center. The number of children this year is double what it has been in the past. If you would be interested in making your heart smile, call 772-8378. Next meeting will be held at Beverly Hatcher’s home, January 13.
