The geographic aspect of the neighborhood must be rescued. The mountains are more and more covered with buildings, and there is no conscience of the fact that living in the mountainsides is one of the city’s most emblematic symbols.

In Latin America, there are no appropriate mechanisms of protection and management encouraging the development and preservation of the landscape and the community. To illustrate this fact, we can take the case of the carrera quinta and calle 29 where there is a police station. This street, since it is the border separating La Perseverancia and La Macarena, is one of the most dangerous streets in the neighborhood.

There is a difference between the calles and the carreras. The calles are more silent than the carreras and have a view of the mountain or of the city, while in the carreras you seem to be in the middle of the city’s high flow.

La Perseverancia marketplace is a spot that produces identity. It preserves the traditional character and is a good example of the social complexity. It is the junction point between the surrounding neighborhoods and it is a safe place located in the middle of La Perseverancia. Its commercial establishments and products give information about its audience, since there are areas of traditional trade and others that provide specialized products.

The emblematic buildings of the neighborhood are Las Torres del Parque, La Pilarica which is in front of En Obra, the Manizales building, the building in la quinta and the sloping colorful houses.
