DANCE RECITAL CLASS

Summer Recital classes are a sample of regular recital classes. There is no recital at the end of the summer session. The full recital season runs September to May, with a Holiday Showcase in December and a Spring Recital in May. All recital classes are located at the Simkus Recreation Center unless otherwise noted.

Ballet 1

RECITAL CLASS

Ballet for beginning level dancers focuses on basic ballet techniques, with traditional barre and center work. Rhythms and patterns are taught through repetitive combinations and musical awareness.

Ballet 2/3

RECITAL CLASS

Dancers continue classical ballet technique and begin the study of pre-pointe and pointe focusing on foot strength and suppleness.

Previous ballet experience and enrollment in Ballet 3 or above, or Forte Ballet Technique class is required. Evaluation at the first class determines skill level readiness. Instructor will place students on pointe shoes when it is determined they are ready.

RECITAL CLASS

Level 2 focuses on arm position, direction of body and increased movement vocabulary. Level 3 students continue to develop extension as well as more advanced barre and center work. Single pirouettes and grande allegro are introduced. Ages 8-18 Thu 6/9-8/18 No class 7/2-8

Ballet 4/5

RECITAL CLASS

Students continue to develop extension as well as more advanced barre and center work. Focus is on pirouettes, use of the head and upper body, fluidity of port de bras as well as the intricacies of small and large jumps. Ages 12-18 Thu 6/9-8/18 No class 7/2-8
