FOUNDAT ION

The Carmichael Parks Foundation is a nonprofit organization of volunteers dedicated to supporting the youth and parks of our community. A core role of the Foundation is to provide scholarships to local youth so they may participate in the many recreation programs offered by the Park District. On an average day, 400 youth participate in the programs provided by the Park District. The Foundation is in its fourth year of providing scholarship support and participation has increased dramatically. In the first half of 2018, scholarship numbers have already surpassed those for all of 2017 ensuring that No Child Was Turned Away due to lack of funds. The Foundation participated in the Big Day of Giving on May 3rd raising over $10,000 and funded an exciting playwriting program in July with the

B Street Theater. The upcoming 2nd annual Dinner in the Park on September 8th contributes significantly to the youth scholarship program as well as park improvement projects. The Foundation is partnering with the District to construct two Bocce Ball courts in Carmichael Park. Construction is anticipated to be completed this fall. Funds have also been allocated to the Friends of Jensen Botanical Garden and the Carmichael Community Garden at Sutter Park for ongoing beautification.
