“Love is everywhere, Durex is everywhere expressed that Durex is present in every love-making session regardless of nationality, ethnicity or cultural background. Illustrations are placed behind the text to make it stand out. Illustrations are also applied on the condom box to showcase the culture of the three different countries.

Let’s make home brighter! is a campaign meant to appeal to the three distinct characteristics of the family man; the son, father and husband. The concept focuses on these family men as they are the ones who will buy the light bulb. The idea is to show three different kinds of family man and their characteristics. They are responsible for the warmth, comfort and wellbeing of the family.

jiù shí dù (九十度) is a project about the art of organizing. It is inspired by the term knolling, which is a process of arranging similar objects in 90° angles. This is an exhibition to bring a better understanding of the entire concept of jiù shí dù. The exhibition focuses more on my personal collection of found objects. These little daily objects are akin to modern day archaeology finds. They are the fragments of urban society that are often overlooked.

The poster is formed by twelve small cards, with each piece being placed one by one over twelve days to illustrate the daily process of organizing. The six graphics which are neatly arranged represent the elements taken out from the logo which clearly showcase the action of "organizing".

For our 6th edition of the MASSESzine, we set out to explore the fast moving world of the oldest and biggest sport in the world, RUNNING. From a personal point, I wanted to explore running because it is something pretty close to my heart. I have been running regularly for the past 4 years and have grown very fond of the sport. Not just because of how much healthier the running has made me, but because of the simplicity of it, the minimalistic requirements needed to go for a run, and the fact that your only opponent is your own self.

you don’t need proper weather (kinda), and you definitely don’t need a ton of equipment to go for a run. Just strap on a good pair of running shoes and off you go. It’s that simple.

Some may argue the fact that football is the biggest sport in the world, but in actual fact it is running. Statistically, the number of joggers in the United States alone amounts up to 60million odd joggers as of 2015, and some experts say the numbers go up to the billions if you add up the rest of the world. Anyone with an abled body can run. You don’t need team mates, you don’t need a court,

Whether you are someone who have never ran a single KM in your life, or you are someone who compete in ultra-marathons, we hope this issue of MASSESzine will offer you the support and motivation to go out there and push yourself to achieve more, not just in running and in conquering longer distances, but to go the distance in life.

In this issue, we explore a wide spectrum of the running world. We explored the history of running, the different individuals who play a role in the running community, the different brands who have made a huge impact on the running world, the different ways to prepare for a marathon and the evolution of the running shoe.

In an attempt to encapsulate the freedom and exhilaration awarded by grinding wheels onto pavement, we will delve into the land surfing world of skateboarding in our 7th issue of MASSESzine!

get in touch with prominent icon in the global skateboarding scene to chat about a brand so influential to the culture, some would argue the brand itself is synonymous to skateboarding.

Very much a Southern California tradition, skateboarding defined many a childhood, while influencing an entire culture based on making a playground out of anywhere with solid ground.

Vans geeks in particular are going to love this issue as we give you a series of articles covering a collection of the brand’s stylish sneakers, the shoemaker’s history from the eyes of the founder’s son, and interviews with some local Vans enthusiasts that are prominent within our niche community.

We take a look at the sport’s rich history, pick the minds of various personalities for a personalized view of the local skating scene, and

Rock music’s history on this side of the planet has been illustrious to say the least. Ever since the rock ‘n’ roll phenomenon breached our shores, countless bands have coalesced over the years, suffusing the local airwaves with their own definition of the popular genre.

for a more insightful look at our countries rockers. Meanwhile, Kak Jenn shares, among other things, a little bit about why we should eradicate the ‘free mentality’ that is commonplace among Malaysians and how doing this will help the scene as a whole.

Heavily influenced by blues, R&B and country music, rock finds itself best experienced on the live stage and assumes a particularly imposing position within the underground music scene in Malaysia. However, many think the rock scene has said its reluctant farewell to its golden age, with live shows on the decline and a bevy of prominent rock bands seemingly experiencing its twilight years. True or not, the current condensation of modern rockers aspiring to make it big indicates that the scene has yet to lose its beating heart.

Jason Lo imparts a little bit of crazy into issue #8’s pages while dipping into the difficulties of managing Rock The World, arguably the biggest local rock showcase there is. We’ve also got Bunkface featured this time around, in which we managed to glean a little bit of info on the band’s upcoming all-English album.

Prominent figures within the rock community have much to say about how rock is true music and that the scene could mend itself should certain steps be taken. We pried into the mind of ROTTW’s founder, for instance,

Love Me Butch’s guitarist, Wing Meng was also kind enough to sit down with us to talk about his businessman persona and how music shaped his path into the retail sphere. Of course, in keeping with MASSES tradition, we start off with a brief history lesson on rock music itself before touching on the local bands that have made an impact on the rock culture here. Please enjoy this rock-flavoured issue and never stop rocking hard!

Event Branding

Sneaker-lah is a one stop sneaker convention, and the word “LAH which is synonymous to Malaysia as it is a very common slang amongst us Malaysians, would be the best way to refer to a Malaysian based sneaker convention. Therefore, SneakerLAH. The convention aims to be a melting pot for International footwear companies, sneaker stores, sneaker resellers, and most importantly, sneakerheads to come and spend a day or two in the convention talking, eating, smelling, and breathing sneakers.
