10:30 am Sam Carlson, Landscape Designer at Northwind finds inspiration in a May cut-flower bouquet and creates a new perennial garden plan. Learn how to compose a cut-flower garden that offers spring blooms for cutting and season long textural interest. 11:30 am Sharilyn Smage, Floral Designer at Northwind will demonstrate how to create drought tolerant containers using sedum that donâ€™t need constant attention. Sedums have leaves with a thick, waxy substance that store water for long periods of time. They can grow and thrive with little water. We will have a variety of colorful sedum and succulents in stock for you to take home and create your own colorful containers. 2:00 pm Adam Rabe, Landscape Foreman at Northwind and wine connoisseur has won a handful of blue ribbons at the Wisconsin State Fair. He will be discussing grape growing techniques including trellising, pruning, maintenance and harvesting. There will be wine samples.
3:00 pm Brent Horvath author and owner of Intrinsic Perennial Gardens will be at Northwind signing his recent book, “The Plant Lover’s Guide to Sedum”. His book describes everything you need to know about these beautiful gems. Plant profiles highlight 150 of the best varieties to grow, with information on zones, plant size, soil and light needs, origin, and how they are used in the landscape. The book will be for sale. 4:00 pm Roy Diblik author and co-owner of Northwind will lead a garden tour and will be signing his recent book, “The Know Maintenance Perennial Garden”. Learn how to create nature-inspired gardens composed of durable perennials that contribute to their own health using the Know Maintenance Approach to minimize your labor and to maximize enjoyment of your garden.
To add to the festivities Northwind will be offering sales on perennials and garden accents and there will be food vendors on site the entire time so you can make a day of it.
