s it time for you to change up your style? Add a bit of sophistication and class to your everyday look? I’ll walk you through the ins and outs of styling yourself with a more sophisticated, chic, and classy style that you can wear for years to come (or the rest of your life!). Classy styling is timeless. The navy shift dress and camel-colored pumps you buy today will still be wearable ten years from now. Buying one good pair of pearl stud earrings outweighs the 10 pairs of trendy statement earrings that will be passé a year after they are purchased. It is an elegant style that can be worn to work, Sunday brunch, a city shopping trip, or traveling the world. You can even go sailing while rocking a classic look!
Sophisticated dressing is all these styles represent. But about key elements and com- don’t discount the other styles bining them properly. So if you when you want to class it up. are ready to delve into a new classier look, let’s get started. FIT IS KEY C
lassy and sophisticated clothing is typically tailored and form fitting (not too tight, but you can show off that figure). Skirts should hit just above or below the knee, as should your dresses. Classic trousers are straight, slightly wide, faintly bootcut, or menswear inspired and should be ½-inch off the floor in the back. Wide-leg pants and skinny pants in classic fabrics are also acceptable, as are ankle pants (shades of Audrey Hepburn!). Blazers, blouses, and sweaters should follow the curve of your waist Not everything you wear has to be perfectly tailored and form-fitting. You can mix in unstructured pieces for a more relaxed vibe. Pair a bluestriped t-shirt with chinos and a denim jacket or a flowy maxi skirt with a crisp white button-down shirt (roll up those sleeves for added panache!)..
hey say that the devil is in the details, and dressing classy is no exception. The trick to wearing sophisticated clothing is to keep everything neat, clean, and simple. Make sure that the clothes are flattering on you and colors and patterns are balanced. All items should be free of wrinkles and color coordinated. Check for holes, loose threads, missing buttons, or a hemline that is frayed. Stick with neutrals with pops of color here and there. Don’t over-accessorize; stick with simple minimal jewelry like a pair of earrings and a watch or earrings and a pendant necklace. Your hair and makeup also play a role in your overall look. Again, neat and clean. Stay away from metallic eye shadows in loud colors, be careful not to overdo
the blush or bronzer, and stick with a neutral or colour lip. Your hands, and the jewelry on them, are an extension of your wardrobe, and a reflection of the care you take with your appearance, especially if you are wearing a statement bracelet or ring that brings extra attention to those fingers. Indulge in regular manicures, either at home or in a salon. Keep nails short to medium in length, opting for a nice round or oval shape, with clear or nude polish or a French manicure. Stay away from stiletto nails and bold or neon colors, as well as nail art and jewels. So take a look through that closet again. Maybe you can let the hem down on your favorite skirt or add a cuff to pants that are too long for your ballet flats. And that floral silk blouse? It will look great paired with a neutral skirt and matching pumps. You don’t have to completely give up your own style to be classy and chic, but it will require some effort and modifications. Are you ready to make the classy transition? Remember classy doesn’t mean boring or without personality. Dressing classy means dressing stylishly and sophisticated. It’s also timeless and elegant.

ESSENTIALS WHEN CHOOSING A BATHING SUIT
s the saying goes, its summertime and the living is easy. Summer is also the time when people go on vacation, and the one essential item you need when you go on vacation is a bathing suit, and a good one; sometimes, people even bring more than one with them (I am one of those individuals). There are so many different types of bathing suits today, it’s hard to choose! There are various patterns, designs, cuts, and styles, and some even have extra padding in the tops for those of us who have a smaller chest. String bikinis are usually the most popular, but they have since evolved. Choosing a bikini may seem simple, but there are some essential elements you should look for when purchasing one.
ake sure your chest actually fits in your bathing suit top. I have seen one too many girls wearing bikini tops that are way too small for them; their chest is practically falling out. It doesn’t look tasteful, sexy, or stylish at all, it just looks distasteful and trashy. I know it’s harder for girls with a larger chest to find tops that fit them good and support them, but there are such tops out there that exist. Whether it’s a halter, bandeau, or triangle top, or the designs are stripes, floral or animal print, a solid color, etc find the right size and cut that suits your chest size. You will be more comfortable and you will look better rather than letting it all hang out, trust me.
eep your cheeks in. Ladies, keep a little to the imagination, no one wants to see your entire butt out of your bathing suit bottom; otherwise, you might as well be wearing a thong in public. I know bottoms are small, and obviously they’re designed so that some of your butt may show, but that doesn’t mean you should take advantage of it or purchase a bottom that is a size or two too small. It doesn’t look classy one bit, and makes me cringe. Save that for the bedroom, you want to keep the cheeks in check. I know many bathing suit bottoms are low rise so it may be difficult keeping it all it, but it is very much possible, so just do it! You don’t want it to look like you’re trying too hard to purposely show off your bikini body, it’s not cute. You essentially want to come off confident and that your look is effortless. There is such a thing as showing off the right amount of skin without going overboard, it’s very easy: just buy the right size. Finally, pick a bathing suit that com-
pliments your body type. Certain designs and styles look better on people with particular body types. For example, having a smaller chest and being on the thinner side, I usually look for a bathing suit with a bandeau or triangle top that is either a push up or has extra padding. When choosing a bottom, I usually opt for a side tie one or a hipster short so I have moderate coverage; I ultimately want a design that gives me curves. However, I think if you have the confidence, you can rock anything! You want to wear the bathing suit, not let it wear you. Don’t be afraid to flaunt your curves or show off your body! Even if you aren’t one hundred percent comfortable being in a bikini, there are cute one pieces you can choose from, as well as tankinis. There are also boy short and skirt bottoms too if you are more conservative; the possibilities really are endless. No matter your body type, you are beautiful and perfect the way you are, just remember that.
modern times, streetwear has held an important position in the fashion pursuits of the mass, especially among the youth. Brands such as Supreme, Off-White, and others have really catered to the various urban youth subcultures, causing a new platform for fashion. The concept evolved in the streets of the United States, featuring vibrancy, passion, and dynamism attributes that to this day reflect youthfulness and rebellion. Due to that reflection, the youth drove streetwear to the mainstream making it the beloved fashion quota we enjoy today. As you can make of it from the name itself, this is a form of ca-
sual clothing that is most popular in urban settings. Made up of t-shirts, hoodies, hats, and sneakers, streetwear has made a name for itself in representing the youth culture. However, do not mistake this style to represent just one culture, though it is hip-hop oriented, streetwear is anything that does not belong to the fashion system. Using many different elements from grunge, emo, rock, and other subcultures. In addition, out of the variety, many creative pieces have been released from these drops allowing for some interesting art like clothing. Take brands like Ready-made who base their pieces off of old fashion military gear, creating a streetwear style with a sharp edge. In saying that, Such pieces like bomber jackets, distressed denim, baseball caps, and other popular clothing create a stunning aesthetic by itself and/or when combined together.
he time of its inception, streetwear clothing was primarily to be worn during the summer, due to basic pieces like t-shirts, hoodies, hats, and sneakers which called for a more laid-back look. Fast forward to today’s time and streetwear can be worn year round as the availability of streetwear serves the dressing needs during the Autumn, Spring, Fall, and Winter. owever, though derived from the aesthetic, streetwear clothing has become a combo culture in itself creating a following with the new generation of youth that loves to express themselves with their fits. Not only are young adults in this movement too but children are involved as well, showing off their latest picks on social media or when hanging out with friends. Driven by the Hip Hop community, rappers and pop-stars take a huge part in the streetwear movement with artist such as Kanye West releasing his very own Yeezy’s sneakers and creating a Yeezy fashion line that has been very successful in mainstream media. Though he himself is just an example, countless of celebrities, artist, actors, and athletes have all created their own highly praised streetwear items.
