MASSAGE: AN AHHHH-SOME EXPERIENCE.

Massage begins with a delicious sensation of being cared for as you settle onto the table. Then comes your thankful sigh as the therapist’s hands smooth away that nasty knot in your shoulder or neck. Slowly, surely, you become aware of a deep letting go as tension and pain washes from your body, leaving you feeling refreshed, spacious and serene. Now in her 18th year of practice, Christine Dixon, Registered Massage Therapist, has the experience and skills to gently guide you to an increased state of wellness, awareness and peace. She uses a combination of massage, craniosacral therapy, meditation techniques and yoga to help heal pain and restore normal movement. Deep Tissue Massage focuses on releasing adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue commonly known as knots) in muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Deep tissue massage physically breaks down these adhesions, and is particularly effective in relieving chronically tense areas such as the neck, low back and shoulders.

CranioSacral Therapy uses the bones of the skull (cranium) and base of the spine (sacrum) as handles to help release tension in the tissues that enclose and protect the central nervous system. This allows the whole body to function in a smooth and unrestricted manner. CranioSacral Therapy is calming and soothing, and triggers a deep relaxation response. It is highly effective in treating a wide range of conditions including headaches, jaw and sinus problems, sciatica, digestive disorders, ďŹ bromyalgia, insomnia, stress and anxiety and any condition where only light touch can be tolerated. Facilitated Meditation: All injury and disease cause a stress response in the body. If the stress is not integrated at the time of the incident, the body retains an energetic imprint, sometimes referred to as an “energy cystâ€?, which usually has a strong emotional component. The purpose of Facilitated Meditation is to access and release this trapped energy and to teach the client how to integrate any new traumas. Facilitated Meditation brings you into a direct,

loving experience with your self, and teaches you to integrate all of your experiences by simply allowing the energy of the moment to move through your body without resistance. Yoga: Yoga postures are often assigned as home remedial exercise to continue the effects of a massage or craniosacral treatment. Christine also offers yoga classes. These therapies can be either stand-alone treatments, or may be combined in one session. Christine’s goal is to provide you with the most effective treatment for your particular condition.
