L’objectiu del taller ha estat portar a l’ETSAB el debat sobre el model de creixement de baixa densitat residencial monofuncional que és insostenible i que necessàriament serà uns dels temes de treball dels futurs i futures arquitectes. De la mateixa manera que als anys 80 la rehabilitació dels polígons residencials va ser una de les prioritats de moltes ciutats europees, en un futur proper aquest tipus d’actuacions s’hauran de portar a terme a les urbanitzacions. Nombroses recerques des de mitjans dels anys 80 i, especialment, dels darrers 10 anys, adverteixen de l’excessiva urbanització que ha patit el territori, de la seva fragmentació i de la ineficient utilització dels territoris urbanitzats d’aquesta manera. The objective of the workshop has been to open a debate in the School of Architecture of Barcelona (ETSAB) about the growth model of low-density single-use residential areas, which is unsustainable and will be a working topic for the new generations of architects. In the 1980s the priority of many European cities was the rehabilitation of urban residential areas; but in a near future this type of actions will have to be developed in the suburbs. Since the mid-1980s, and especially in the last ten years, several research projects have warned about the excessive urbanization of the territory, its fragmentation and the inefficient use of this type of urbanization. 16
