YOUTH HOSTEL

New dynamic around the Bruxelles canal.

PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE A place which activities radiates beyond the canal area. Teachers : B. Baines et C. Menon. May 2014.

7

The project is a dense plot located in Boulevard Barthélémy along the Brussels canal. I chose to add a public cafeteria to the hostel program. A public equipment allowing a mix between the hostel’s customers and the inhabitants of the neighborhood and beyond. This intention is part of the gentrification process of the canal area.

PATIOS HOUSE

RESIDENTIAL From private toward hospitality. Ficticious location. Teacher : M. Pinto. December 2014.

15

We established the project on an imaginary site on which we developed a group’s ground plane. The ground plane consists of 5 houses induces the question of non-built spaces’ development (public and/or private) as well as the relationships with the immediate neighborhood between private, collective and hospitality. The main project’s matter is to place the intimate spaces at the underground floor in contact with the garden and the spaces of hospitality at the ground floor in contact with the street and the common space.

16

"Space + " is independent from the housing, it is glazed and aligned in the street as a visual attract because it’s a space for the community. This " space + " is a complementary space: a person can come to read a book, to play, to appropriate the place with the modules which we place in the space as coffee tables and armchairs. You can privatize the space with a curtain.

In the private family housing, the night spaces are articulate around three patios which allow a light source and formed by a variety of materials. The materiality of these patios activates the indoor space: the water mirror, the climbing vegetation and the stone floor. At the ground floor the kitchen/ living room are open on the outside and make an internal/outside link.

CIRCUS SCHOOL

A space for learning and sharing

The project was selected for the final book of the Faculty la Cambre Horta: 12 project are published PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE A landmark for the district which revitalizes the outside public place. Anderlecht, Bruxelles. Teacher : H. Lionnez. May 2015.

21

The project is located in Anderlecht, place de la Vaillance in front of the CollĂŠgiale. It is a urban void in a dense urban context. The project wants to preserve a part of this void in the district and respect the heights of existing buildings.

22

FRONT

TRANSPARENT

For me, the circus represents the sharing, the representations and interactions. I chose to implant a compact volume to keep an outside space and in the continuity of existing buildings.

The projects wants to create a connection with the public places. Live together is the way to boost the district. So the volume is very open on its context, crossing and transparent: we can see and be seen.

The school can be totally open on the public place: the cafeteria and the space of representation open directly into the places. The elevations are thinking with various materials. The main, closer to the places are drawn by a wooden structure and the side elevations closer of the surrounding built are treated in a more urban way.

26

Inside the project, the relations between spaces are also very present: double height and glazing allow numerous visual interactions and exchange. However when this box which activates the urban space wishes to be more private for the artists, curtains comes falls along the glazings to hide them. The materials chosen, the wood, the curtains are reminders the universe of the circus.

HOUSING ON A TRAMWAY DEPOT

Make a link between the depot and the urban existing

The project was selected for the final exhibition of the Faculty la Cambre Horta. URBAN PLANNING - COLLECTIVE HOUSING Molenbeek-St-Jean, Bruxelles. Teachers : H. Bauwens et D. Pools. January 2016.

31

The ground plane will have to contain a minimum of 120 housing and will also have to determine the questions of density, non-built spaces (public and\or private) and their arrangements, as well as the relations to the immediate and surrounding neighborhood. They will also have to answer, among others, the questions of social mix, cultural diversity or still sustainable development.

32

To revitalize this site, the ground plane has chosen to restore urban facade in the rue de Bonne and rue de Birmingham. The project draws housing all around the tramway depot and on the depot.

Axonometry

So the tramway depot is completely surrounded of mono-directed built. That’s why there are places to maximize the entry of natural light. The urban space, more or less wide with the small places boost the dinamic of these streets.

Large family

A desire to offer a new place of life to plural indentity who can grow through their exchanges, their diversity, their sharing and their gatherings.

The project wants a diversity housing, an exchange between the habitants with sharing and gathering. Small places created in foot of buildings by the cuttingof the built are revitalized by the integration of infratructures: a district library, a nursery and a lavomatique-coffee, which all open on the street.

On the tramway depot, the housing has two orientations, they are wider than the housing along the depot which are mono-directed so narrowed in width . On the tramway depot a collective space is develops, the single habitants, the couples or the families, old or younger, can play in this area enjoying a common lounge, a garden.

CIAD

Second out of the 20 projects students at the studio competition PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE Intergenerational art center. Granada, Espagne. Teacher : M. Francisco MartĂnez Manso. February 2017.

43

The site is an urban space in the city center of Granada, served by a main line of the city: Calle Recogidas. It is a space of transition between two densities: houses with two or three floors from 1940 and other buildings more recent, higher and intended for a residential use. This site has a strong urban density with constructions of different periods and typologies. The program of the Intergenerational art center propose a space of gathering dedicated to the children and elderly people

I decided to dedicate this center to the art and to the drawing: the CIAD, the intergenerational center of art and drawing. It’s a place for them to meet, share, study through events and through a common sensibility. The center program composed of a showroom, a library where books can be consulted in relation to the theme of the center, the studios for the drawing, the painting, the sculpture and a nursery for the young children who need activities designed to encourage awareness, creativity, and observation.

44

The project is opened to the city, to create a link with it and to become a signal point for the district. It’s established in a compact way between two buildings. On one hand to reconstruct the facade of the street Ribera Alfan. On the other hand to free an outdoor space, an urban place for the project, the district, the city. This space acts as a visual attract and the cafeteria can use it.

46

The volume of the project is worked so as to build the urban transition between the various heights of the adjoining buildings which oscillate between 11 meters and 17 meters. That is why two volumes are formed. A higher on the side of the street Tejeiro and a lower for Alfan de Ribera street. There is a central yard which solves the problem of the light, and bring some freshness in summer.

Section

This central yard echos the drawing of the urban plane of Granada. The building allows to cross the parcel and connect both streets by an internal relation. The stone Sierra Elvira who dresses the place continue in the ground floor to connect the internal spaces of the cafeteria and the exhibition with the district. It also allows to underline the internal crossing of the project.

47

48

Besides, the volume adapts itself to the context with a diagonal facade which hide adjoining walls. This diagonal also extend the facade and thus have a better lighting. On the place along the adjoining a row of orange trees is planted to act as a shroud and hide them. The elevations are drawed with an external cladding

which reminds the rhythms of the of the context facade. The corten steel and white concrete fit the context by the similar tones. The interpretation with the contemporary architecture allows the project to integrated the context but distinguishing itself from residential building. It can take his role of community center, opened to all.

Project selected for the Prix La Cambre de la Faculté La Cambre-Horta. PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE Make a iconic building for the new district of Evere (Belgium). Teacher : Luc Delheuze. June 2016.

51

MAISON KANGOUROU

RESIDENTIAL Use straw and wood construction. Uccle, Bruxelles. Teachers : Gil Honoré et Pierre Stoffel . December 2017.

59

The project have been established on a sloping plot located at the bottom of the street, in the residential area of Uccle (Brussels). The house allows a family to live with a senior, a student or offices thanks to a studio totally independent to the rest of the home. We have specifically worked on the constructive spirit of the project.

60

The axonometry allows to quickly understand the scenario and materials used. The house construction have been based on the family budget. A first stade have been built in concrete structure, then the second developed from Pailletech modules (wood and straw). We worked on a compact project where internal spaces are organised with the outside terraces, privatise one from the other thanks to the natural slope of the ground.
