“Paddlefest” - Sunday, June 3rd, 2012 Presentations will be held and booths/information tables will be staged at the Bernalillo County Open Space’s Bachechi Environmental Education Building. Bachechi Open Space is located at 9521 Rio Grande Boulevard, NW. If possible, consider carpooling or riding your bike to the event due to limited parking. There are a few parking spaces available at the property just off of Rio Grande, including designated handicap parking spots. Additional parking is available at the Alameda Open Space parking area located just west of Rio Grande Blvd. on the south side of Alameda (east side of the river). We are reserving the school bus parking spaces for this event, on the southeast edge of the parking lot. From the Alameda parking area, walk to the southeast end of the wetlands, cross over the boardwalk and continue to the Environmental Education Building. Information Tables Information tables will be established at the grounds of Bachechi Open Space. Middle Rio Grande Conservation Initiative Plan – Dave Simon is working on U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and Bureau of Reclamation participation to raise awareness on the MRG Initiative Rio Grande Restoration – General Information on Steve Harris' ongoing efforts on behalf of the Rio Grande Blue Trail – Dave Simon, Eco-think – A citizen (non-governmental) organization table also promoting the concept of the blue trail; info handed out here can be more "pointed" and "directed" in terms of getting people involved and recruiting river recreation supporters.
