Aquatic

Learn to Swim Pool Platforms for Toddlers

Tot docks are portable aquatic platforms designed to provide very young swimmers a chance to be in the BIG pool. These training platforms are submersed into shallow ends of large pools to shorten the depth of the pool making it safer to teach tots, toddlers and preschoolers. The Sam Ketcham Pool has two tot docks ready for use during the renovation and construction stages of the new aquatic center. Register your preschooler for swimming lessons to teach them about water safety and learn new activities for the lake this summer. Call the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex at 250.398.7665 to register your child.

Helpful hints What Swim level should I register my child in? A FREE swim assessment is available during Family or Rec Swims. Please check in at the administration desk to set this up. Return your Report Cards Return your last report card to the administration office or your child’s instructor by the middle of each swim lesson session. Wait Lists Some classes fill quickly. If the class you want is full, please ask to be placed on the wait list. You will be contacted if space becomes available or an additional class is added.

32

www.williamslake.ca

Meet Your Instructor Midway through each lesson set your child’s swim instructor will provide an overview of the content of the swim level, what areas your child needs to work on, and their accomplishments to date. Progress If your child has been registered in three lesson sets (with CMRC) and has not progressed to the next level, you can register him/her at no charge until the level is completed. Registration It is CMRC policy to allow your child to be registered in only one lesson set at a time.

Canadian Red Cross For more information on Canadian Red Cross Swim Lessons visit www.redcross. ca/swim. Safety To ensure your child’s safety please ensure your children wait for their lessons in their meeting place. The hot pool is not available prior to swim lessons. Showers Children and adults must shower before entering the pool.

HIIT - High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is a 45 minute calorie torching, heart pumping, balance, and power workout. Short bursts of high and low impact cardio and conditioning exercises will sculpt your entire body. Modifications are offered for all levels

Admission to Drop in Fitness Classes is included in all Fitness Passes.

Aquafit in the pool is a great way to add variety to your fitness routine. Improved muscle tone and cardiovascular fitness with this amazing low-impact, head-to-toe workout for beginners, seasoned athletes, and people recovering from injuries. Water provides resistance in multiple directions, with hydrostatic pressure exerted equally on all surfaces of the body. Movement in side-to-side or forward-backward direction meets equal resistance working opposing muscle groups equally. This means the muscles in the front of the leg work when lifted forward and the muscles in the back of the leg work when lifted behind.

Afternoon Aquafit every

Tuesday and Thursday Participants will from 1:00-1:45pm burn more calories exercising in the water than exercising on land. A one hour Aquafit class burns nearly 400 calories, comparable to jogging at a pace of six to eight minutes per kilometer for the same length of time.

Please contact the instructors for exercise modifications to fit your specific needs.
