Bespoke Windows & Doors

Quality Without Compromise Carey & Fox has 25 years experience manufacturing and supplying the highest quality, aesthetically pleasing timber windows, doors and conservatories to both residential and commercial customers. Carey & Fox are committed to purchasing the finest quality materials to ensure the durable manufacturing characteristics of our windows, doors and conservatories last a lifetime. A diverse selection of timber options is available to suit all budgetary needs from a variety of softwoods through to a selection of hardwoods. In order to secure dimensional stability and durability within our products, engineered timbers are used. The three-core lamination process of the timbers reduces the risk of twisting and warping. As timber is a natural product there are what we would call ‘natural defects’ such as knots and shakes. The lamination process removes these defects to provide a longer lasting surface finish.

Bringing out the Beauty of Timber Carey & Fox are renowned for our superior quality finishes and we have always strived to maintain this throughout our manufacturing process. The finest raw materials combined with meticulous finishing ensure a consistent furniture-like finish, which is second to none. A three-coat finish process is used on all of our products with a timber protecting basecoat followed by two durable top coats offering a long lasting, low maintenance coating. We provide a wide variety of differing translucent stain and solid opaque finishes from either the BS or RAL colour charts or select from our range of Heritage colours for that truly period look. The options available in the Craftsman Range and the Redwood Range differ so please speak with one of our sales team for advice.

Protecting Our Future • The energy cost of converting trees to our windows and doors is comparatively low

• Timber from well-managed forests is a

renewable and environmentally sound resource

• More than a third of the most hazardous

chemicals listed by European governments are used in the production of PVCu. Trees grow naturally from properly managed forests. PVCu also has its problems when it comes to disposal whereas wood, properly designed, treated and maintained can last indefinitely and is much more easily disposed of at the end of its lifetime

• The water borne coatings used by Carey & Fox replace harmful solvent-based materials and, through intensive technological development, reduce maintenance and increase product life

• Timber window frames and doors are repairable and when they finally become time-expired, can be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner

At Carey & Fox our guiding principle is that, whatever we do to meet the requirements of the present, we should not compromise the ability of future generations to fulfil their needs too. The effect of this is to ensure that all manufacturing processes and raw material sources are as environmentally friendly as possible. Our entire factory and business has been built around this simple principle and we attain the highest levels of environmental approvals through initiatives such as our self-supporting heating system that requires no outside power. We source both our softwoods and tropical hardwoods from properly managed forests where sustainability and renewal are carefully monitored policies. We believe there are strong environmental arguments in favour of using timber for windows and doors over PVC-u or aluminium.

3

• Timber windows and doors are extremely energy-efficient

• The natural insulative properties of timber

windows and doors means they are much better at keeping a home snug and warm, reducing heating costs during the winter months

• Timber manufacturing also uses fewer

resources than PVC-u, aluminium or steel and is therefore much more economical in terms of energy consumption. Both the World Wildlife Fund and Greenpeace support the use of timber windows over environmentally compromising PVC-u equivalents
