Architecture of Reconciliation M.Arch Studio - November to Dicember 2016
Located in the northern region of Colombia, at one of the largest open-pit coal mines in the world, this project proposes a space for reconciliation. The Church works as a buffer zone between the different actors and their role in the environmental situation of the mine. Moreover, this project challenges the socio-cultural and socio-economic trends of globalization, colonization and displacement and its impact on the rural area.
Architecture of Reconciliation creates a journey that follows the Stations of the Cross along the dominant void in the landscape. It becomes a medium of repentance and faith recovery. Upon arriving to the bottom of the pit, the pilgrims will find themselves in a communal space for gathering. The final stage of the journey is the Church, the space of reconciliation and spiritual renewal, the sacred space that balances out with the profane.
Biblioteca Undergrad Studio 620 - January to February 2015
The concept of library is changing towards a more experiential space, aiming for social interaction. Biblioteca addresses this by playing with solids and voids. Solid is dedicated for private, formal and enclosed spaces, such as study rooms, stacks and areas for the CSI offices. While public, informal and open zones are common spaces to be shared by all. The atrium is located in the center as it connects all the programs within the building: small spaces are cantilevered over the atrium in the different floors at different locations, so that people can have a visual connection to the other spaces.
The outdoor space located on the ground floor embraces the building, connecting the residential buildings on the northwest and northeast areas to Biblioteca. It also provides a small playground for children, considering the demographics of the site of the increase of young families with children.

New Davisville Elementary School M.Arch Studio - January to April 2016
Built at the peak of modernism in Canada, the Davisville Junior Public School rich in its architectural expression such as the roof origami-like form, the playfulness of the windows, the rhythm of the bays, the in-betweenness of the stair cores, and the clear geometry are just a few details that characterize the innovative thinking of the time. However, the school is undergoing the negative impact of contemporary modernization and its imminent demolition is awaiting due to its overcapacity, poor maintenance.
In the first part, the exploration of different components at different scales and uses helps to strip the building up to its finest details. Secondly, the new school proposes an evolving architecture that responds to the demands of the time, while adjusting the mid-century masterpiece to new requirements. The school of the future will layer ideas, interests and the overall zeitgeist in which it is evolving.
Seeking an Architecture of Reconciliation M.Arch Thesis - September 2017 - ongoing
The rural landscape in the global south has become the subjectivation of ruthless economies and the demand for detachment and independence has been building up since the time of Discovery. As contemporary colonization is slowly reaching a rupture point between the corporation and minorities, urban and rural, developed and developing, architecture can mitigate the impact as an agent of reconciliation. A space designated for the revitalization of land degradation, not in the sense of making land fertile again, but on the standpoint of a new foundation of cultures, communities and
traditions, and more importantly, a setting for celebrating rural human existence, from life to death and infinity. Within the context of Colombian coal open pit mines, this thesis searches for the outcome of a heterotopia and a new fourth typology being shaped by theories and concepts like ambiguity, hauntology, thirdspaces, uncanny, sacred and profane, and the role of a table. The work presented here is the first iteration of what architecture of reconciliation would and could be.
