Today, we are beginning an exciting study that will continue for the next 5 weeks. “Left Behind...A Biblical Look at the Earth’s Last Days” will help us to gain Biblical answers to the study of prophecy and Christ’s return. I am in Israel today, but wanted to begin the study through a teaching I taped last week. There are a lot of world events presently being played out in the Middle East. Israel plays a huge Biblical role in prophecy and we will look at that in the coming weeks. I look forward to seeing you next weekend. Blessings!

Part 1: Why Should we Study Bible Prophecy? Mark Evans, Senior Pastor February 6 - 7, 2011

Prophecy is history written in advance. God intended for us to study Bible prophecy because it is one of the greatest signs that the supernatural hand of God was involved in writing the Bible - the most influential book ever written. I. Why should we study Bible prophecy? A. To Prepare Ourselves and Others for the ___________________ ___________________________________________. B. To Realize the Supernatural Hand of God at _________________ ___________________________________________. C. To Recognize the __________________________ of Scripture. D. To Understand the _________________________ of Mankind. II. How is the study of prophecy profitable for the Christian? 1. Prophecy Proves the _______________________ of God on Scripture. A. “Day Star Dawn in Your Heart”. “For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.’ We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain. We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.” 2 Peter 1:16-19

“You may say to yourselves, ‘How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?’ If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.” Deuteronomy 18:21-22

B. Prophecy _______________________ other parts of scripture.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

3. Ezekiel 26 - ________________________________________ of the destruction of Tyre fulfilled by Nebuchadnezzar and Alexander the Great in history. The chances of all seven of these prophecies being fulfilled are __________________________________.

4. Over 100 Old Testament prophecies were fulfilled by the 1st coming of Jesus. A. Reveals that Jesus was the ________________________. B. Reveals that the Bible ___________________________. C. Reveals that prophecy is _________________________. 5. Prophecy reminds us that God is _________________________ when the world is _______________________________. The study of prophecy should not make you nervous. Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled,” when He spoke of prophetic events. Rather, the study of prophecy reminds us that God is in control even when man is out of control.
