Super Trade Mission to India February 2012
Be part of Australia’s largest ever trade mission to India.
India has undergone significant economic transformation over the past decade and is now one of the world’s largest and fastest growing economies. By 2030, India is set to become one of the top three economies with its population overtaking China.
The Premier of Victoria, the Hon Ted Baillieu MLA announced on Monday, 22 August, that a Super Trade Mission involving more than 100 Victorian organisations will travel to India in February 2012.
These trends, and the major policy reforms being developed by the Indian government, present significant opportunities to Victorian industry. India’s strong reliance on service industries stands Victoria in good stead to capture new business prospects.
The trade mission will be Australia’s largest ever mission to India and will cover sectors of strategic importance to both Victoria and India including: automotive, aviation, cleantech, education, food and beverage, ICT, life sciences, sustainable urban design and tourism. This mission will strengthen the Victorian investment relationship with India significantly and generate substantial new opportunities for both economies, as well as additional exports and jobs for Victoria. Participants will gain a first-hand understanding of Indian market dynamics and have the opportunity to showcase their organisation and forge new connections with potential qualified customers, business partners and investors. The Super Trade Mission is a centrepiece of the Trade Engagement Program developed to strengthen Victoria’s two-way trade relationship with India. Over the past decade, Indian companies have committed to the creation of more than 4,500 jobs in Victoria through proposed investments of approximately $300 million, and Victorian exports to India are now worth almost $2 billion.
Trade Mission Assistance Program The Victorian Government will cover costs related to programmed events, site visits and business matching meetings. The direct cost to participants will include items such as airfares and accommodation. Eligible companies will be entitled to claim up to $3,000 towards expenses incurred under the Victorian Government Trade Mission Assistance Program - India.
