Greetings...

Welcome... Dear CAPLAW Community,

Dear CAPLAW Community,

CAPLAW’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Eleanor Evans as CAPLAW’s new Executive Director and General Counsel. Eleanor has been with CAPLAW for over 10 years and for the past five years has served as CAPLAW’s Deputy Director and Senior Counsel. Eleanor’s in-depth knowledge of in the legal, governance and financial issues facing Community Action Agencies (CAAs) makes her an invaluable asset to the Community Action network.

I am honored and delighted to serve as CAPLAW’s new Executive Director and General Counsel. Like you, I am passionate about overcoming poverty and helping low-income individuals and families to experience and benefit from the vast opportunities available in our society.

Eleanor has played an integral role in the growth of CAPLAW. Not only has she helped numerous CAAs throughout the country resolve a wide variety of legal, governance and financial issues, she has also expanded and improved the array of practical resources CAPLAW offers the network. In addition, the positive relationships Eleanor has forged over the last decade with Community Action network organizations, federal and state funding agencies, and legal and financial experts across the country have enhanced CAPLAW’s effectiveness in serving the network. With Eleanor at the helm, CAPLAW will not only carry on with the high quality work for which it is known, but it will also hone and expand its efforts to provide CAAs and other network organizations with critical legal, governance and financial information, resources and tools that will enhance their capacity to move individuals and families from poverty to economic security. Best Regards, Winston Ross CAPLAW Board Chair

In my role as CAPLAW’s new leader, I intend to work with CAPLAW’s Board and staff to continually improve our services so that we address the most relevant, timely needs of the Community Action network in accessible, engaging and informative ways. The foundation that my predecessor, Anita Lichtblau, established for CAPLAW enables us to build from CAPLAW’s strengths in increasing our efforts to help network organizations understand and navigate the many legal, governance and financial requirements that apply to their day-to-day work in serving low-income people. I look forward to working with all of you in the coming months and years. Best Regards, Eleanor Evans CAPLAW Executive Director and General Counsel
