 WORSHIP  EMPHASIS  

THE LORD  WILL  PROVIDE   Jehovah-‐Jireh  means  "The  Lord  will  provide".  God   revealed  Himself  as  the  Lord  who  would  provide  way   back  in  the  first  book  of  the  Bible,  Genesis.  Abraham   gave  God  that  name  and  I  can  only  imagine  how  he   must  have  shouted  it  out  as  he  looked  up  and  saw   the  ram  caught  in  the  thicket.    Part  of  his  praise  was   for  the  fact  that  he  did  not  have  to  slay  his  son  and   part  of  the  praise  was  for  God’s  miraculous  answer   to  his  prayers.         Every  Christian  needs  to  live  with  faith  in  Jehovah-‐ Jireh.  The  Apostle  Paul  wrote,  “If  God  is  for  us,  who   can  ever  be  against  us?  Since  he  did  not  spare  even   his  own  Son  but  gave  him  up  for  us  all,  won’t  he   also  give  us  everything  else?”  (Rom  8:31-‐32  NLT)  I   once  read,  “If  God  has  given  us  His  very  best,  will  He   not  also  give  us  His  very  least?”     After   the   sacrifice   was   complete,   Abraham   named   the  place  "The  Lord  Will  Provide"  which  in  Hebrew  is   YHWH-‐jireh.  "Jireh"  translates  into  "Provide”  a  word   with   wonderful   Latin   roots.   Pro   means   "before"   and   video  means  "to  see".  So  it  means  to  see  in  advance   or   before   the   need   is   known.   God   is   preparing   an   answer  before  we  know  that  it  is  a  need.         Sunset  Today:    6:34  p.m.     Next  Week:    6:24  p.m.
