Next Stop Big School

Last Wednesday night 34 young PreSchool children graduated from Canowindra Pre-School and are very excited to be off to “Big School” in 2020. The Canowindra Pre-School this year held a combined Graduation and End of Year Celebration Disco for the entire PreSchool service, family and friends at the Canowindra Services Club with dinner. The 34 young graduates were all presented on stage with a certificate and a book titled You Might Find Yourself by Author Tai Snaith. Pre-School parent and committee member Abbie Morrissey prepared the graduation cake and parents brought along salads to share for dinner. The graduating children performed a Lion

King inspired dance with Director Liz Francis even dressing up as ”Rafiki” from the hit movie. It has been a very busy year for the PreSchool, with the successful completion of the administration building construction after gaining a grant from the government, the Outside School Hours Care Service has continued to grow and the team welcomed Staci Watson as the new Administration Manager in the office. The Pre-School are very much looking forward to 2020 and enrolments are now being taken for both Pre-School and Outside School Hours Care (OSHC). If you have any questions please contact the PreSchool on 6344 1261. By Sarah Maynard

I realise that everyone is going to shoot me down in flames for saying this, but I sincerely believe that if we are going to get fair dinkum about road safety, we should completely ban the use of phones and other electronic devices in motor vehicles, including basic 'radios' and basic GPS’! They are ALL distractions when you are trying to concentrate on your driving. I always plan (map-out) my trips using the old fashioned "Gregory's" (Books of road maps, for those too young to know what I'm talking about!), and I NEVER have the radio on while I'm driving, and I never eat or drink while I'm driving. I've been driving since 1971, NEVER had an accident, and NEVER been 'booked'! (No doubt I'll now have every cop in NSW out to get me!!!) As a former motor mechanic, I get annoyed watching car ads and car reviews on telly or the internet, when all they talk about is the 'entertainment and communication' system in the car,....all with large 'touchscreen' technology and multiple USB ports

throughout! All of which I believe should be banned, as they are a complete DISTRACTION to the driver! They never talk about the engine or transmission,....the things that REALLY matter to the driving enthusiast. If any car company was smart enough to build a basic car without all the useless 'electronic-wizardry', the car would be $10,000 cheaper, and sell like hot-cakes! Yours Sincerely, Rusty Marsh, Bathurst, NSW

Light Up Cabonne This Christmas And You Could Win!

Cr Kevin Walker (Deputy Chairman of CTW), Mr Paul Toole MP (Member for Bathurst), Mr Sam Farraway (Nationals MLC) and Mr Gavin Rhodes (General Manager of CTW).

Welcome Funding For Lake Rowlands

Central Tablelands Water (CTW) has welcomed the NSW Government funding announcement of $1 million for the completion of a feasibility study into the Lake Rowlands dam extension as part of its emergency response to the drought in regional NSW. The Member for Bathurst, Paul Toole and Nationals MLC, Sam Farraway were at Lake Rowlands to make this important funding announcement last week. Mr Paul Toole, said, “Preliminary studies will be completed by CTW to bring the project to the shovel ready stage. These studies will include engineering design, review of environmental factors, secure yield and cost benefit analysis.” Gavin Rhodes, General Manager of CTW said, “This project is the first stage of the Lake Rowlands Augmentation three stage concept. Stage 1 involves raising the height of the existing dam wall by 2.2 metres which will increase the capacity from 4.5 gigalitres to 8 gigalitres. This will help shore up the water security needs of our existing consumers now and well into the future.”

“The second stage is the linking of Lake Rowlands to Carcoar Dam of which a final business case is currently underway by WaterNSW.” “CTW has been lobbying continuously for over 20 years for the enlargement of Lake Rowlands, so it is extremely pleasing to be moving forward on this important water security project,” Mr Rhodes said. Mr Farraway said, “To ensure water security well into the future and build our economy, planning must start on the necessary infrastructure. The Government has moved quickly and decisively to assist regional NSW during this drought. We know communities are doing it tough and need our support to ensure water security for residents and businesses.” “WaterNSW is expected to release their business case for the pipeline linkage project by mid 2020 and, with the completion of preliminary studies for the Lake Rowlands Dam expansion, we can be ready to start building the infrastructure this region needs,” Mr Farraway said.
