Android Apps That Should Not Be Installed Google Play Store is filled with apps which should be avoided at all costs. Some of these apps are QuickPic, UC Browser, Truecaller, ES File Explorer, CLEAN it, Touchpal and Music Player. Compared to iOS, Android users are at a disadvantage. The latter’s open source nature means that developers, often through their own follies, make Android look bad. Android users often complain about the ads they receive through their apps. Fortunately, Google is aware of these shortcomings because of which they have adopted measures such as Google Play Protect to regulate the Play Store. Below we discuss some android apps that should be actively avoided at all costs. QuickPic When it first started out, QuickPic was an easy-to-use and friendly photo gallery. It was not flashy. Thanks to frequent updates and clear communications, it steadily developed a substantial user base. Cheetah Mobile bought out QuickPic in 2016. Since then, the former had started uploading the users’ data onto their own servers leading to severe security and privacy issues. UC Browser UC Browser is one of the most popular Android web browsers in India and China. It claims to be able to save a substantial amount of data usage through compression through its “fast mode.” This app should be avoided owing to the fact that it tracks user information. The search queries of users are shared without encryption with Google and Yahoo India. The IMSI number, Wi-Fi MAC address, Android ID and IMEI number are shared with an Alibaba analytics tool named Umeng. Furthermore, the geolocation data of the users i.e. longitude, latitude, street name etc. is shared without encryption with an Alibaba Mapping tool named AMAP. Truecaller

This app identifies unknown callers by saving your number and authenticating it. Unfortunately, Truecaller uploads the entire contact list of its users onto its servers and then sells this data to advertisers. With the help of Truecaller, advertisers can reach out to you through your personal information. ES File Explorer The ES file explorer is one of the most popular apps to go around. This is because of its initial run and success with its users. Unfortunately, nowadays, it is full of adware and bloatware. Furthermore, it will constantly keep asking its users to download unnecessary apps from its notification bar and pop-ups that cannot be disabled. CLEAN It Most of the claims that CLEAN it says it accomplishes can actually cause hindrance to a phone. Clearing the cache actually slows down the phone. If we clear the RAM, we will use up the battery more. Furthermore, stopping apps that are running in the background does not actually save the battery. Touchpal The problem with Touchpal is that it shows a lot of ads on the keyboard and even on the locked screen. There are plenty of free and better apps that are available as alternatives and they are the ones that should be used. Music Player As the name suggests, this app plays audio files that are present on the device. Unfortunately, this app has multiple disadvantages. First, it shows a lot of ads. Second, it consumes a lot of data. Third, it is a huge drain on the battery. All of the aforementioned may be verified from the negative reviews on Google Play.
