ACamperCabin

Ourtraditionalwoodencabinscan accommodate10to14campersandtwo staffmembers.Allcabinsfeaturebunkbeds. Mattressesareprovidedinthecabins.With safetyalwaystopofmind,eachcabinand tabinisequippedwithsmokedetectors,fire extinguishers,indoor/outdoorlightingand electricaloutlets.Thebunkbedscan comfortablyfitsmalltomedium-sized suitcasesanddufflebagsunderneaththem
Ourcanvastabinshousebetween6–8participants,andfeaturebunkandsinglebedsin eachstructure.TheprivacyofourVillagesallowsparticipantstoenjoyaclassiccamping experiencewhileremainingclosetoprivatewashroomsandshowerfacilities.

ManycampersattendCampwithafriendtheyhopetoshareacabinwith.Weare committedtodoingthebestwecantoaccommodatecabinmaterequests(pleasenote thatthisdoesnotapplytoROOTS,POLARISandWCITswherethestrengthofeach programisreflectedinthefullgroupexperience). Therearesomethingstokeepinmind sowecanaccommodateyourcabinmaterequest:
Campersmustbewithin18monthsinage Requestsmustbemutual(i.e.requestsshouldbemadebybothcampers). Campersmustbeattendingforthesameperiodandforthesamelengthofstay. Weguaranteeonemutualcabinmaterequest.
Intherarecasethatarequestismadefortwocamperstonotbetogether,youmust notifytheotherfamily.CampWenonahcannotplayaroleinthissituation.

Day-in-Townincludes:

AtriptoBracebridge,includingamealoutandavisittothelocalcinemaforamovie Campersalsohavesometimetopurchaseanypersonalitemsnecessary. Weaskfamiliestoincludemoneyfortheircamper(selectedwhencompletingtheFinal Formspackage).Wethenprovidethesefundsincashtothecamperinanenvelope. CampersareresponsibleforkeepinganychangefromDay-in-Town. $50orsoisgenerallyenoughtocoverameal,movieandanypersonalitems needed

IfyourcamperrequiresanEpiPen,theyshouldcometoCampwithatleasttwoEpiPens.If yourcamperrequiresanEpiPenforastingallergy,CampWenonahrequiresthemtohave theirEpiPenwiththematalltimes.Pleasesendyourcamperwithsomethingtheycancarry theirEpiPeninontheirbody.

Internship:
WCITparticipantsprovideleadershiptothe Campcommunityinanumberofways. Thisprovidestheuniqueopportunityfor hands-onexperienceandallowsWCITsto developasprogramandactivity facilitators.WCITparticipantsmayalsobe giventheopportunitytoshadowstaff membersinavarietyofrolesatCamp.
WCITscanbefullyimmersedincabinlife, programmingandcanchoosetoshadow staffmembersinsomeofthevarious supportrolesavailableatWenonah.
Feedback:

WCITDirectorsprovidefeedbacktoallWCITparticipantsonanongoingbasisthroughout themonth.Thisincludesformalmid-monthandendofmonthone-on-onefeedback sessions StaffwhomentoredWCITsinrolesaroundCampwillalsoprovidefeedbackfor WCITs.YourparticipantshouldleaveCampknowingexactlyhowtheydidintheprogram.
WCITstakeonamuchhigherlevelofresponsibilitythanothercampersandmayenjoy certainbenefitsthattheysharewiththestaff.However,itisimportanttorememberthat WCITsarenotstaffmembers.OurstaffhavebeentrainedinPreCampandhavebeen givenamuchhigherlevelofoverallresponsibilityforthecampers.
TheprogramisanexperiencethatallowsWCITswhomaywanttoapplytobestaffinthe futuretolearnandgainabetterunderstandingofwhatajobatCampreallyentails.WCIT isthereforenotjustatrainingyear,butalsoa“tryout”year.TheWCITprogramoffers participantsachancetoshowwhattheyhavetoofferasastaffmember,andalsoto learnfrommistakesinasafeway.WehopethateachWCITleavestheprogramwitha senseofaccomplishment,responsibility,independence,closebondsoffriendship,and havinghadtheopportunitytomakeapositiveimpactoncampers’lives.
POLARISTOWCITTRANSITION
CompletionoftheWCITand/orPOLARISprogramsdoesnotguaranteeajobatCamp Wenonahthefollowingyear.ToworkatCampWenonah,candidatesmustcompletean applicationandgothroughourinterviewprocess.Everyyearwehavesignificantlymore candidatessthanwehaveavailablestaffpositions.Candidatesareassessedbasedon: performanceintheleadershipprograms,staffapplications,résumés,interview,Camp skills,aswellasgeneralattitudeandworkstyle.Allstaffarerequiredtopossessa minimumBronzeCrosscertification(possessinganNLcertificationwillhelpinour assessmentofacandidate)aswellasaStandardFirstAid&CPR-Ccertification.
AnyoneinterestedinapplyingtoCampWenonahforastaffpositionin2026should contacttheSeniorDirectorJJ(jj@campwenonah.com)sometimeinSeptembertoobtain aStaffApplication,whichmustbesubmittedbythestateddeadlinetobeconsideredfor aposition.Applicationsforfirst-yearstaffpositionsareavailabletoapplicantswhowere bornin2008orearlier.DecisionsandjoboffersaremadeearlyintheNewYear(January &February).
LEADERSHIPCLOTHING

Eachmonth,thePOLARIS&WCITgroupseachdesignapiece ofclothingspecifictotheirprogramandtheirmonthatCamp (inmostcasesasweatshirt).Thestyle,designandcolourof theclothingisdecidedbythegroups,withoversightfrom staff.Ordersareplacedwithinthefirstweekofthemonthso thatparticipantscanreceivethembeforeleavingattheend ofthemonth.Thecostofthissweatshirtisincludedinthe registrationfee,noadditionalpaymentisrequired.
AFTERCAMP

WedoourbestduringtheSummertoreturnanylostitemstotheirrightfulowner (properlylabellingallitemsgreatlyhelpsthisprocess).However,everyyearthereare severalitemsthatareleftatCampattheendofeveryPeriod.Wemakeanattemptto returnanyandalllabelleditemstofamilies.
