PROGRAMS that TRANSFORM

YOUTH MENTORING and VOCATIONAL TRAINING

Formerly the LANDSCAPE ACADEMY, is now a successful mentoring and training program for youth and young adults, providing pathways to a vocation. In our neighborhood, 72% of residents live at or below low income. We walk alongside students on a path to breaking this cycle and a brighter future.

“Before this, I was stealing cars.” “I am learning to be a good dad to my baby.”

“Without the program I don’t know where I‘d be.” “We’re gonna continue to help the community.” - Quotes from Landscape Academy Students

Reading is the gateway to the world, yet 88% of third graders in Detroit read below grade level, and only 3% of high school students in our neighborhood are proficient in math and reading. Our LITERACY PROGRAM, wrapped in Christian love, is raising the reading level and keeps the Literacy House brimming with students learning to read, cook, and think logically.

COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Our volunteers and vocational training students are beautifying dangerously overgrown areas and reactivating spaces designed with community leadership. Nearly 90% of the properties in our neighborhoods are abandoned.

”During this school year, the kids learned so many new things, to read and write, to solve math problems, and to explore the world around us. They’ve also grown as individuals, becoming more confident, curious, and creative.” ~ Parent

The REDEEMER CAFE & MAKER SPACE is well underway Once complete residents will have much needed computer access, makerspace opportunities to increase vocational skills, and gathering space. The backyard, designed by the National Wildlife Federation, will be a playground for all ages

“We cannot make an impact alone. With community leaders, volunteers, and your generous support, we are reclaiming our neighborhoods.”

The RADIO PATROL is an instrumental program of ‘trained citizens, who are linked with radios and lights while driving through our neighborhoods. The patrol has been instrumental in reducing crime and addressing issues that improve quality of life.

“Radio patrol shows the community we care… When you see one of the patrol cars you know someone cares and you feel safer.”

“Radio patrol is cleaning up the city by reporting and locating illegal dumping and replacing street signs and speed bumps.” “We are assisting with keeping the children safe with crosswalks. … ”
