Electronic Device/Internet Usage Policy While our main goal at camp is to foster the social, physical, and spiritual growth of our campers through traditional camp activities, we also understand the role that electronics and the internet play in today's society. As a result, we have come up with the following policy that allows us to provide the complete camp experience with some allowance for the use of campers’ home comforts. Electronics Policy • Cell phones are not permitted to remain in campers’ possession under any circumstance. Upon arriving at camp, all cell phones must be given to your child's group leader and will only be distributed for out of camp trips. Cell phones will be recollected upon arrival back at camp. Please note that if a camper’s music and/or video games are stored on their cell phones they will not have access to them at any time unless out on a camp trip. •

The following devices are permitted, but may only be used in the camper’s bunk during free time, and the content on the devices should be age appropriate and suitable for camp (this is the parents’ responsibility to ensure this is taken care of before campers arrive at camp): ◦ iPods and other MP3 (music) players ◦ Portable gaming systems, such as a PSP or Nintendo DS ◦ E-readers, such as Kindles and Nooks – preload books before coming to camp as no internet service will be accessible ◦ Digital Cameras (must be separate from phone) – we suggest inexpensive models or a disposable camera It’s best to leave all expensive electronics at home. These devices have a way of getting lost or broken at camp, and sometimes even stolen. Camp Monroe cannot take responsibility for their loss or damage, nor does our insurance policy cover their replacement. •

The following devices are NOT permitted under any circumstances and should NOT be brought to camp: ◦ Tablets, such as iPads ◦ Laptops and/or Personal Computers ◦ Portable DVD players ◦ Televisions ◦ Any other device with internet or phone capabilities If any of these prohibited devices are brought to camp, they will be confiscated and returned to the camper’s parent(s) on visiting day. There are no exceptions! Internet Usage Policy • Campers are permitted to use the internet/e-mail/Facebook/Twitter under the supervision of their counselor and the computer instructor and only during their bunk's designated period in the computer room, approximately once per week. • Internet content will be filtered to be age appropriate for the campers. • Social Networking: Camp Monroe views social networking sites (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn), personal Web sites, and Web logs positively and respects the right of campers to use them as a medium of self-expression. If a camper chooses to identify himself or herself as a camper of Camp Monroe on these sites, some readers may view the camper as a representative of Camp Monroe.
