In1959,a317-acrepropertyinClarksville,Ohio,was purchasedtoprovideapermanentlocation.Overthe years,CampJoyhasexpandedtoincludeoutdoor schooleducationandleadershipprogramsforall ages.Inaddition,thecampexperiencehasgrownto servethosewithvariouschallenges,including economic,medical,specialneeds,at-risk,andfoster youth.
Since1937,CampJoyhasprovidedoutdooreducationand experience-basedlearningprogramsforunderservedchildren fromtheCincinnatiarea.ThemissionofCampJoyhasnot waveredoverthelast86yearsinprovidingqualityprograms forthoseinneed.CampJoywasoneofthefirstracially integratedcampingprogramsinourregion,andin1951,itwas incorporatedasanonprofitorganization.
CampJoyservesnearly10,000youthannually, offeringopportunitiesforchildrentoparticipatein activitiessuchashiking,swimming,archery,ropes courses,canoeing,campfires,andcrafts.These experiencesarefunbutalsohelpyouthlearnnew skillsandincreaseself-esteemandsocial/emotional development.
OurOutdoorSchoolProgramoffersauniqueopportunity forstudentstoengagewithnature,learnaboutthe environment,anddevelopvaluablelifeskills.Through hands-onactivitiesandimmersiveexperiences,weinspirea senseofwonderandcuriosity,fosteringadeepconnection withthenaturalworld.Studentsareencouragedtoexplore, problem-solve,andcollaborate,buildingresilienceand criticalthinkingabilitiesthatextendbeyondtheclassroom.
