A CAMPAIGN FOR CAMP JEWELL YMCA
LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCES HAPPEN HERE
A LEGACY BUILT ON VALUES, CHARACTER AND FRIENDSHIPS
For over a century, Camp Jewell YMCA has been committed to building dreams, creating lifelong memories and changing lives. It only takes two weeks at Camp Jewell to spark something special within the heart of a camper. Decades later, campfire cheers and skits bring back wonderful memories of summers long ago.
Camp Jewell has been providing our community with camping experiences for nearly 120 years.
Unplugged, away from the digital clutter, important life lessons remain. Lasting change happens, and memories are created to last a lifetime. It is a place where meaningful, memorable experiences occur for thousands of youth, adults, parents and families from around the globe. Our campers build deep friendships, gain confidence and self-esteem, and form unparalleled leadership qualities. We take great pride in helping our campers lay a foundation for personal growth that helps them reach their fullest potential in Spirit, Mind and Body.
Located in the beautiful hills of the Berkshires, our internationally known resident camp provides youth with an opportunity to feel a part of something bigger than themselves.
Our campers grow as a cohesive unit, inspiring each other to be a better person in a carefully crafted culture that is accepting of all, diverse in nature and built on the values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
INVEST IN THE FUTURE AND BUILD DREAMS
Our Board of Advisors and leadership team are committed to the long-standing mission of Camp Jewell.
Diligent preventative maintenance has served us well, but the time has come to invest in our facilities.
To preserve the magic of Camp and set the course for the next 100 years, Camp Jewell has embarked on a $4.2 million capital campaign. Our plan will bolster aging facilities and infrastructure, all while enhancing the Camp Jewell experience.
These investments will be directed toward a mix of new construction, facility enhancements and infrastructure replacements.
Camp Jewell has occupied its current site for over 65 years, and most of our cabins and structures date back to that origin. They have experienced significant wear and tear from hundreds of thousands of guests.
Each improvement amplifies Camp Jewell’s mission of helping kids discover natural talents, build dreams and prepare for the future.

A JOURNEY OF INSPIRING YOUNG PEOPLE
Ginna Taft’s lifelong work has been devoted to youth. In 1991, she discovered Camp Jewell and quickly fell in love with its magic: its history, mission, culture, campers and staff.
Ginna’s experience at Camp Jewell was profound. She immersed herself quickly as the waterfront director where she taught campers how to swim and Leaders in Training how to be lifeguards. However, it was her role as a mentor to young people that Ginna found most rewarding. She was proud to see campers
grow in confidence and maturity, which provided them the foundation for success in adulthood. It was Ginna’s fond memory of Camp Jewell that inspired her to make a major gift to the “Building Dreams” campaign. She is pleased that the cabins are a campaign priority as they are where bunkmates form lifelong relationships. Ginna hopes that her gift inspires other donors to come forward so Camp Jewell’s incredible legacy may continue for decades to come. THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE CAMP JEWELL
Ellie Harris clearly remembers her first trip up the Camp Jewell driveway. With emotions running high between anxiousness and excitement, she was gleefully greeted by campers and staff. Within the first few minutes of stepping out of the car, Ellie knew she found a second home.
and knows she can depend on these relationships throughout her life. Ellie is particularly fond of the YMCA’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility and feels they are part of her “DNA.”
