The PVM Story Since 1981, PVM has led thousands of children and adults to Christ at its awesome, 80-acre campus in scenic Preble County, Ohio. Today, it continues that legacy, primarily through an efficient and faith-filled partnership with Family Camp, Inc., by hosting retreats, outdoor activities and kid’s summer camp.
What is Family Camp?
Family Camp, Inc. is an Ohio non-profit and IRS 501(c)3 public charity, founded in 2006 and led by an independent, three person Board of Directors. Considered an agile, but high functioning charity, Family Camp has no employees, but develops and implements its programming and ministry through a legion of volunteers. It puts 100% of its operating budget toward accomplishing its mission to use God’s natural splendor to create exceptional experiences that transform and nurture families.

Band of Brothers Family Camp
Summer camp for children 2nd through 12th grade: Our picturesque Camden Campus offers big adventures close to home. Campers can participate in activities such as canoeing, rock climbing, swimming, archery, riflery, paintball and zipline. Trained, experienced counselors and adult role models from the community offer the opportunity for a guided, wellsupervised experience that is both fun and valuable. Week-long, overnight camp is conducted during June and July for about 100 participants per week.
Why Camp? The average child spends less than 30 minutes outside each day. Typical kids spend 4 hours a day playing video games, 4.5 hours watching TV and 82 minutes on a phone. Less than a third of teens get the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity.
Camp Is Powerful... Summer camp is a powerful experience that builds into a child’s growth, identity, and faith. A week at camp is 10,080 minutes of time spent outdoors - away from “the typical.” It’s an opportunity to learn, dream, and grow.
Band of Brothers
retreats for men: At this retreat, men discuss how to have courage, unity in the brotherhood, and humility in the mission. Retreat leaders set a tone of vulnerability and authenticity with their own stories. They facilitate open and honest discussions about the issues, lies and fears that men confront. Participants learn about God’s good plan for our lives- which promises peace, freedom and purpose. Band of Brothers conducts two retreats per year in Spring and Fall, typically 120 participants per event. www.pvmcamp.com
Hearts of Beauty
is an experience designed to restore the hearts of women through a real encounter with God. This three-day journey is hosted in a setting of beauty and tranquility and is designed to recapture hearts. Through teaching sessions, films, and guided periods of reflection, we show participants that the “more” they have been longing for in life is available! This is more than a retreat – it is an expedition of the heart. Hearts of Beauty conducts two retreats per year in Spring and Fall, typically 120 participants per event. www.pvmcamp.com
retreats for families: Like our kids summer camp, family camp provides tons of fun activities in the great outdoors centered on family, friends and God; simple lodgings and meals included. Think of it as a family vacation that intentionally focuses on time for families to connect with God and each other. The goal is to provide a family escape that’s not only fun, but deeply meaningful. Each day is filled with programming that brings the family together in playful activities. Nights are spent on music, singing, dancing, skits and a short, relevant message of God’s love. Family camp takes place up to 6 times per year with five or six families participating.
2015 in Review d
In short, 2015 will be memorable. It was clearly a trying time, but in retrospect was also very rewarding. We began the year undercapitalized, with a half-way finished lodge, and an entirely new team. Now, as we close 2015, our lodge is beautifully complete, we have two magnificently renovated retreat centers, and we’re financially on much more solid ground. All in all, 2015 laid the foundation for an incredibly exciting future at PVM. We’ve had hundreds of adults and kids commit or re-commit their lives to Christ this year. One young man, a professed aetheist who came to camp just for paintball, formed a relationship with God this summer. Another young man who lost his dad attributes getting his life back on track to his experience at camp. Men and women alike found strength and restored relationships with God, their spouses and their children after spending time here. So it seems we’re well on our way to achieving our vision of being a destination second-to-none where adults and kids can escape their day to day and hear from God. Thank you for playing your part this year in striving toward our meaningful mission. We welcome your continued involvement in 2016 and beyond. Joy Young President, Family Camp Board
In Store for 2016 Last year thanks to Chris & Jacob Shaw and One-21 ministries, we hosted three weeks of summer camp. In 2016 we’re making room for nearly twice as many kids including a week dedicated solely to high school students Hearts of Beauty and Band of Brothers continue to expand, both inside and outside Ohio. Now, with the infrastructure we’ve put in place, both programs can reach at least 600 men and women at events in both Spring and Fall. Thanks to our customers, we’ve seen a great market for small to medium sized groups. That’s why we’ve begun renovations on our bunkhouse to begin its transformation to a self-contained retreat, complete with bathrooms, showers and meeting space for 30 people. www.pvmcamp.com
This year, thanks to Melissa Smith’s hard work, we hosted the first of nearly 30 weddings at PVM. We also booked virtually every weekend for 2016. So we’ve committed to building a new multi-function wedding pavilion on the north shore of the pond so we can usher in twice as many new married couples next year. Finally, through a growing partnership with Grace Chapel, we expect to see hundreds of families experience what it’s like to live in a developing country like Africa in order to strengthen The Church’s commitment to missions. These plans reflect our objective to double the impact PVM has on our world in 2016. More kids, more husbands, more wives, more families, more churches coming to PVM to meet or rekindle a relationship with our Lord..
The Challenge Ahead Is God calling you to a deeper, stronger relationship with him? Is there a way in which PVM can help you get there? Whether its by leading, or by being led; giving of your time, talent or treasure; building on our existing foundation, or helping us create something entirely new. We want to maximize the benefit of this amazing resource God has drawn us to, and we invite you to play an even bigger role in the bright future we’ve laid out for you here. Our question to you is simply “how will you make a difference next year?” Merry Christmas and God Bless us all. Donate today at www.pvmcamp.com/donate 937-452-3347 firstname.lastname@example.org
