Media center Connections

Greetings

This school has a rich heritage in the African American community of Indianapolis. I have many personal friends who attended this great school. As I was looking through the book Crispus Attucks High School “Hail to the Green, Hail to the Gold” by Stanley Warren, Ed.D , I saw two of my ―father figures‖ in the book. One was Minister Glenn Bradley and the other was Mr. Charles ―Tee‖ Toliver. It was exciting seeing them in the book especially since I have heard so much oral history about Crispus Attucks ―back in the day‖. I believe that the library media center should be the hub of learning in the school community. The patrons are the spokes in the hub. Without patrons, the library media center is just a room filled with books and equipment. I have enjoyed the visits from individual students and classes thus far. It’s refreshing to see so many students coming in to borrow books, get their accounts straightened out, request books and authors, register for Free Book Friday, and utilize the computers. I appreciate the teachers who are signing up to bring classes. In addition, the library media center is utilized afterschool Monday-Thursday for tutoring and the writing center; Thursdays for Scrapbook Clubs and small group meetings. Keep the wheel turning! Library Assistant/Bookstore clerk Mr. Bonner serves in a dual role. You can find him in the library media center during SRT. At other times you will find him in the Bookstore. SRT is a very busy time in the media center. Since Ms. Morgan has an SRT, it would be helpful to Mr. Bonner if you prearranged group visits either by email or a phone call (2445). All students should come with a pass. We will not allow students in the media center during SRT or any other period without a pass from their teacher.
