MASTER IDEA IN EHIBITION DESIGN ARCHITETTURA DELL’ESPORRE

NAVIGATION ROOM_IMPLEMENTATION ARSENALI MEDICEI, PISA

Professor: Maurizio Di Puolo Type: Permanent Museum

The requirement was to explain to the public the ancient methods used to orientate during the navigation. We found out two methods, based on two different instruments: the pilot book and the astrolabe. These objects trasformed into two exhibit positioned in the centre of the entire room.

The exhibit explaining the pilot book is composed by two stations with two interactive projection. The visitor can act like the capitain of an ancient ship and navigate near the coast orienting thanks to the triangulation. The astrolabe is rapresented by a rotating table with constellations illuminated in backlight. Visitors can understand the link between the date, the place and the visible night sky.

RE-LAB is a project made for the Porta Nuova district in Milan. It’s the synthesis of its cfrafts history, the abandoned and forgotten areas and the possibility with the construction of the new skyscapers and requalification of becoming the new heart of the city. The idea is to turn the unused, the abandoned into new design ideas, made for the milan citizens for milan citizens themselves. Special containers all around the city collect the materials. These can be used during the three months of summer to create new objects, installation, furniture for the district. Coordination and link between citizens and artisans and designer are very important, thanks to the lessons and the co-working.

OTHER LANDS SAME ROVERS A PAVILION FOR THE LAND ROVER BRAND AT THE International Geneva Motor Show_CONCEPT

Professor : Carlo Malerba Type: Pavilion

This Concept Project is born by che consideration that almost every landscape on Earth has already been explored by Land Rovers. Other Lands Same Rovers wants to communicate the Rovers as spaceships, riding an unknown landscape, from some unknown planet. This landscape is made of “rocks, cracks of light and mos. It seems quite ostile untile the public starts living it, then it becomes surprisingly comfortable and friendly, with a floor made of rubber and soft furniture, the mos platforms soft and the comfort of a diffuse light. It is thought to be an hospitable place in the chaos and discomfort of the show.

TEMPORARY, MOVABLE AND REUSABLE BOOKSHOP AND CONCEPT STORE FOR FRAME MAGAZINE EXHIBITON AND EVENTS_CONCEPT Professor: Karim Azzabi Type: Retail, Temporary, Modular

Frame is a magazine that relates different aesthetic realities to one another, enhancing them through a focus on the details that haracterize them. These realities can actually be part of a series of facets, which create an extremely heterogeneous magazine. These aspects create a diamond shaped structure, which is called GEM. It consists of three modules with the same shape, but with different sizes. This is the skeleton that will be the heart of Frame. What characterizes GEM is its modularity, which allows a spatial development that follows the 8 cardinal points, also including the possibility to stock them one above the other, creating a vertical development. The modules are designed in neutral colors and materials, so it will be the magazine itself to give the main features. The exhibited products, magazines and books are the physical elements that color the space of the module, whereas images of the magazine can be applied on the panels, in order to communicate its philosophy covering the space.

The average and the big parts of GEM are composed of metal frame to which you can attach white plastic panels. On the average sized one only, panels could be of a reflecting material. The smallest module can be of two different materials. If used as a stool, the module will be made of solid wood. In contrast, if used as a bright spot, it will be hollow and made of opal plastic.

During the various transportations, modules can be put one inside the other thanks to their different sizes, creating a sort of “matryoshka. The spaces and the time that are required to assemble and disassemble the store are reduced and exhibitors would be able to set up all the components in a very short time.

One of the issues that the magazine like to debate concern the light and within the installation is possible to see one of the ost interesting effects it creates: the kaleidoscope. Thanks to some “vases, obtained from intermediate sized modules, the displayed object will be reflected inside, creating a kaleidoscopic effect. This is possible thanks to a reflective material, used only on the sides facing the inside of the vase. Therefore, the structure will be transparent and the object exposed inside will be seen in its entirety.

The metal frame which creates the modules can be completely closed by panels, turning into containers. If ballasted, containers can be used as support for larger structures or as small warehouses within the space or integrated into payment locations

The modules have equal height but present three different diameters. This makes them designed to be assembled, shaping selfsupporting structures that meet the needs of the exhibition. The eight cardinal points shape of the structure make them not only xtremely adaptable, but also suitable to any movement in the space. These features allow you to create endless possibilities to compose modules and to set up infinite spatial solutions, which are recognizable especially by the shape due to the diamond.

Every “book” context is narrated with an ambiental audio plus an immersive projected scenario. Photograps with white holes instead of people gradually compose various tematic landscapes. Every scenario has phrases from the books showing the link between the opera and the reality. Conceptual houses of the characters, divided by categories. They are disposed in the exhibition in this order, revealing the inner evolution of the characters.

The non-projected walls become the metaphors of the literary forest, rapresenting sheets of paper flying vertically forming imaginary trees. All these graphic paperwalls are illuminated with a backlight, making them bright in the darkness of the three rooms. Inside of the Houses there are interactive videos rapresenting the main characters, seen as contemporary people. Each one recounts extracts of the book, narrated in the first person.

THE CLOVEN VISCOUNT

THE BARON IN THE TREES

The Author’s life is a journey through four segments of his life, from his birth to the publication of the trilogy. This journey follows the guidelines of the narration of the three books: the division between the space inside the House ,narrating the human, and the outside, showing the ambient. Here the visitors, walking exclusively into the House area, can learn about the biography of Italo Calvino looking at the “Archivio” on the wall, reporting dates, description and the contents. The Outside parts of the four rooms show four different scenarios, related to the segment of life of the Author, to demostrate the link between the inner personality and the exterior elements and habitats.

A NEW MUSEUM EXPERIENCE INTEGRATING THEMATIC PATHS, AN ORENTATION SYSTEM AND AN INNOVATIVE WAY TO INTERACT WITH WORKS OF ART_CONTEST Client: Siena National Picture Gallery Type: Museum Experience, UI Design, Interactive Design Work selected for an exhibition at the Siena National Picture Gallery and the inclusion in its catalog

WHAT IF

CONCEPT

Offer a museum use system that combines interest and understanding of art to the playfulness and lightness of a game

Create a visit system that, by selecting a thematic route, allows to address the visit to the museum as a board game. This is possible thanks to a graphic system studied ad hoc, a communication method for the works of art that intrigues the visitors and a facilitation of fruition and orientation in space. Through a color code system and punctual signage around the museum space the visitors can let hemselves be guided in the story, enjoying deepenings and curiosity about the works of art and themes worthy of a guided tour.
