Welcome, I’m not sure what I can say about the past year that everyone doesn’t already know. It was an extremely challenging year. Record cold, a long drawn out winter, drought, no pasture, no hay, September monsoons, a Thanksgiving snowstorm, and a harvest from hell. Despite all of that, and maybe because of it, I feel this is our strongest group of bulls we have ever offered. We culled 50% of the bull calves that were born this year and due to feed shortage we sold 30% of our cows. Only the best stayed and I can guarantee this is our best we can offer. There are some new exciting bloodlines and some tried and tested ones too. Bulls are developed with longevity in mind and if you ask my Masterfeeds rep I am always quizzing him on how I can feed them “lower and slower” to ensure you get a bull that will last while still ensuring that they are fully developed to their potential. I’m my own biggest critic and I’m picky to a fault. If you want to know any bull’s weaknesses or strengths, just ask. I’ll be sure to tell you. I won’t be happy unless you are happy with your bull. That’s why I like the private treaty format. I can assist you to make sure you get the very best bull for your needs. Give us a call and stop by anytime. I’m sure you will like what you see.

A Note On Birth Weights: I have never been a big believer in very small birthweights and as such we use very few sires with negative birth weight EPDs. What I do believe in is calving ease and unassisted births. Kaitlin and I both work full time off farm jobs so there’s nobody here to baby these cattle. All of the bulls in this catalog were born unassisted but very few have “low” birth weights. Every pound you give up at birth is pounds you give up at weaning and later in life. I talk a lot about the length of some of these bulls. Length means weight but does not mean you have to compromise calving ease.

We’ve raised a few purebred herdbulls here but I dare say that this bull has the potential to be the best. He has a wicked set of balanced, genomically enhanced EPDS, comes from the Titan bull that we have been so happy with, and is an embryo from one of the most proven performance cows in my parent’s entire herd. Top 1% of the breed for WW and YW, 83 lb BW, and exceptional length of body. He’s stouter than he appears because he is so smooth in his design and long in his hip. I absolutely love this bull and plan to walk him ourselves this year. We are offering 50% interest and shared possession in NYK 22G.

A flush brother to 22G above, 23G has been a standout his entire life. He is a performance powerhouse. He’s thick, he’s deep, he’s long, and stout made. Big pounds, big scrotal, tons of hair, and a gentle disposition. If you sell calves in the fall you should take a look at this guy. He’ll pay for himself in a hurry.

One of the most stylish bulls in the pen. His dam puts a good one in the bull pen each and every year. Her 4 sons have all been sold as bulls. Combine her depth and natural fleshing ability with the thickness, hair and style of Titan and you’ll have a herdbull that will make an impact in your herd for years to come.

41G was the #1 WW and #1 W/D/A calf in the pen. His big powerful dam does a nice job every year. Her past 2 calves have both sold to purebred outfits. The sire of 41G was a bull I wish I used more. We lost him to injury but I have some semen in the tank I am eager to use.

NYK 18G is a smooth made, long bodied, hairy, and correct bull. His dam is an excellent young cow with great feet and a nice udder. We used Torque on the Resource daughters to add some length and smoothness and he sure did a nice job. We’ll be using Torque more in the future because I feel like his daughters will be his best asset.

27G might be the most docile bull we’ve ever raised. Since he was a baby calf he has been an absolute dream to work with. His mother raised my favorite bred heifer and hit this mating out of the park in her second year. She’s going to be a cornerstone of our herd for years to come. 27G is long, smooth, and stands on a big square foot.

If sleep at night calving ease is what you’re after, circle 9G. His dam spit him out at 66lbs and never broke a sweat. We have successfully used Torque on heifers and I think 9G will work great in the heifer pen. On the maternal side 9G is out of our most influential cow Georgina 1101 who is notable the dam of our herdsires Graceland and MacGyver. If you keep heifers you will appreciate her influence.

If you believe in judging cattle on the hoof and not just by numbers, this is the first bull most people pick from the pen. And if you were to walk through our cows, his mother would be the first one you’d pick. She consistently transmits her style, hair, and structure to her calves. The sire of 38G has been proven to add length and improve foot quality in every mating.

Anybody that follows our program knows there’s 3 cows that have had the most influence: Tibbie 52Y, Georgina 1101, and Blossom 250U (Dam of Elvis). A quick scan of the pedigree above and you’ll know why I am so confident in this calf. If stoutness and maternal prowess are part of your selection criteria mark a big red circle around 34G. He’s as thick and sound as you can make one and backed up by generations of proven, fertile, productive cows.

Heifer bull alert! It’s no secret I’ve always liked Resource. His biggest fault was the BW that came with his calves. Well we planned this mating with 2 generations of calving ease on the bottom side hoping for a Resource Heifer bull and we got exactly that. Excellent structure, feet, and hair. As a calving ease prospect there is literally nothing I’d change in this bull. I flat out love him.

A direct son of SAV Resource that has everything that made Resource a household name: Performance in a moderate frame, big scrotal, perfect feet, a perfect angus head, and elite docility. 15G’s mother is a good young cow and her last calf sold as a bred heifer to MJT Cattle Co. Another combination of the Tibbie cow family with the Georgina son. 21G is an extremely long bull. Stout and powerful, hairy and docile. He might not be the prettiest in the pen but he will transmit predictable performance in his calves. He’s so quiet that we had trouble getting him pictured.

Only on a year where we have our deepest group of bulls ever would a bull of this quality be found on the last page. His mother is one of my favorite young cows and this guy is as long and smooth as you can make one. He’d work in the heifer pen for a year or 2 and is still good enough to go out and breed your cows without sacrificing anything.

Our only Limousin bull in the offering this year but man is he a good one! Calving ease extraordinaire plus he’s from the best limo cow we’ve ever owned. It was a sad day when we lost her to injury but this guy is set to carry on her legacy. He’s long, smooth, hairy, docile, and perfect footed. I think enough of him that I plan to collect some semen for ourselves. Why not use him on your heifers and get some hybrid vigour in that first calf crop?
