Location: San Francisco Salary: 45k-55k- Based on experience, plus vacation, medical, dental, and vision benefits; optional life insurance; and 401 K plan. Supervisor: Development Director

Job Summary An excellent opportunity to assume a crucial resource development and communication role in a small nonprofit that does advocacy work for foster youth. California Youth Connection (CYC) seeks a highly motivated, self-starting, experienced individual with excellent administrative, organizational, communication and resource development skills to assist in agency wide development and communication efforts, donor data base maintenance, website and newsletter updates, event support, donor stewardship support and administrative support functions for the Executive Director and the Board of Directors. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development and Communications Associate will work towards achieving the following:

General Accountabilities Development Strengthening CYC’s resource development capacity by supporting all organization wide fundraising efforts, including events, campaigns, and administrative major gift stewardship and donor systems o o o o

Maintain an efficient and professional development office including coordinating support for all resource development activities, donor database management Support the development department with donor stewardship Assist and update grant folders Help develop and maintain creative communication materials and updates for marketing material

Communications Developing and producing informational materials and correspondence o o

Maintain and update Donor Database, Donor Reports, website, social media sites, and various email list serves Help develop and maintain creative communication materials and updates for marketing material

Administrative Overseeing daily administrative support functions as needed by the Executive Director including preparation for quarterly board meetings

Provide administrative support to the Executive Director; Prepare for meetings with the Board of Directors, attend and document board meeting proceedings; Prepare and submit expense claims in a timely manner on a monthly basis. Assist in producing and updating grant folders Additional responsibilities as they may arise may be added.

Education and/or experience: Two years’ work experience in child welfare, Bachelor’s degree in communications desired or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with foster care issues desired. Experience working with youth desired. Project Management skills and/or experience: Strong project and time management skills, and ability to prioritize assignments and manage pressure with good humor; Demonstrated capacity to develop and improve administrative systems, including information management, filing, and project coordination Language skills: Excellent written, verbal and editing skills. Technical Skills: Knowledge of and proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Publisher, Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint. Experience with a donor database: Donor Perfect preferred Development experience: Two years resource development experience including event management, campaign coordination, donor stewardship. Communication skills: Demonstrated ability to relate well to people with a diversity of backgrounds; Detail oriented with excellent follow-up; flexible and responsive, with a strong customer service orientation; General Skills: Ability to work both independently and as part of a team; Detail oriented with excellent follow-up; flexible and responsive, with a strong customer service orientation;

Special Requirements 

Ability to attend monthly staff meetings, in San Francisco

Willing to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as requested by supervisor.
