TO GOD WHO IS ABLE TO DO
THAN ALL WE ASK OR IMAGINE, ACCORDING TO HIS POWER AT WORK IN US, TO HIM BE THE GLORY FOREVER AND EVER. AMEN EPHESIANS 3:20-21
I LOVE BEING YOUR PASTOR! As a church family, we have experienced tremendous growth in recent years. And not just in numbers. We have seen people transformed by the gospel. We have launched new ministries and reached out to our neighbors. We have saved orphans, planted churches, and supported local ministry partners. And yes, we have welcomed many new people into our church. But we believe God can do EVEN MORE. In this season in the life of our church, let’s trust God to live up to His Word. We have big plans and even bigger dreams to make a lasting impact on our city, our region, and the world. God can do EVEN MORE than we ask or imagine. Together let’s accept the invitation to trust Him while we roll up our sleeves and get busy working for Him. I, for one, cannot wait to see what God will do in us and through us when we work together to grow His church and see lives changed. Will you join me in seeing even more lives changed forever?
IT’S ABOUT PEOPLE IT’S ABOUT
EVEN MORE CHANGED LIVES FOREVER
OUR STORY Our church began in 1947 when a handful of families gathered in the Memorial Opera House in downtown Valparaiso for Sunday morning services. There were 34 people on the membership rolls that first year. The church had no property, no pastor, and no missionaries, but they did have a vision to proclaim the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ. Today Calvary Church welcomes nearly 1500 worshippers on Sunday morning and is led by a team of committed elders, pastors, and ministry directors. Together we support missionaries across the globe as well as organizations helping people right here in our region. As our church has grown, we have looked for ways to preserve the sense of community and commitment those original 34 members had. We are not only getting bigger as we share the gospel with more people, we are also growing closer to God and one another.

MORE WORSHIPPERS When you walk into Calvary on Sunday morning, there is an almost palpable energy and excitement. You can’t put that many faithful Godworshippers in a single room and not get something amazing going! Our first job is to praise God and this we do every week in worship. We revel in His beauty by making our church space beautiful. We celebrate His grace by singing about it and showing it to others. We give thanks for His mercy. We stand in awe of His love. With an expansion to the Worship Center, we can welcome more people into our Sunday morning celebrations, which are the heart of our church. Together we can grow in the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ.
A BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO WORSHIP A BEAUTIFUL GOD
• A Worship Center that feels like a worship space, not an auditorium. WORSHIP
• The beloved hand-crafted cross and stained glass window remain a key feature over the stage. • 800 seats make room for over 2000 worshippers on Sunday mornings. • Warm décor with stonework flourishes welcome people into a space where worship is rooted in tradition and UP relevant to everyday life. • An addition to the west end deepens the stage and adds preparation rooms backstage. • Removing interior walls widens the space to ensure every person has a clear view. MOTHER STAFF • Wide screens and a new sound system invite everyone to AREA SUITE worship together. OFFICE
MORE COMMUNITY We love community. Everything we do at Calvary is meant to strengthen our bond with God and one another, deepen our sense of shared purpose, and draw others into a relationship with God and the church. To further that mission, we are creating a foyer that is more than a gateway to the Worship Center; it is a destination of its own. It’s a place where people gather to share their lives, encourage one another, and offer support. That is the definition of a church community right there—share, encourage, support. And then repeat with as many people as possible.
“Ministry isn’t a program or an outreach, it’s just what happens when members of the church community COME TOGETHER.”
THE GATHERING SPACE IN PRACTICAL TERMS LOBBY/SOCIAL
• Room to move freely or gather AREA with friends between services. • Inviting chairs and cozy nooks to encourage people to think of church as an oasis…because it is. • A highly-visible welcome desk that visitors can easily see and get to, cutting down on new attendee anxiety.
• A wide open space from the Worship Center doors, both entrances, and the children’s wing.
Kids get caught up in the pulse and energy of worship services created just for them. They are having a great time jumping and singing worship songs, playing games, and listening to stories, but they are also absorbing the most important message of their lives: Jesus loves you. He died for you. You are forgiven now and forever. We want children to think of church as the highlight of their week, an irresistible and engaging place. And when they look back, we want them to remember it as the place where they were first equipped to follow God for the rest of their lives. We aren’t building a funhouse; we’re building the best worship house our kids have ever seen.
CHILDREN ARE NOT THE FUTURE OF THE CHURCH THEY ARE PART OF THE CHURCH RIGHT NOW

MORE CHANGED LIVES Hope is a powerful emotion. When combined with an offer of help, it can be life-changing. Jesus Christ is the hope; the Life Change Center will be Calvary’s helping hand. We already offer practical services to both church members and our neighbors in the community. We think that’s something the Bible calls us to do—to meet people’s physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. But we can do even more. We can come alongside people as they work to strengthen their families, overcome their struggles, and confront their habits, hang-ups, and hurts. The Life Change Center will be a place where no one asking for help is turned away.
WHY TWO BUILDINGS? The opportunity to purchase the building across Evans Avenue from Calvary’s church building was an unexpected blessing and the benefits are both immediate and long-range. Without a single nail or load of asphalt, we added 7000 square feet, 70 parking places, a suite of offices, and a medium-sized gathering space. Renovating the existing offices in the future Life Change Center instead of building a new suite in the church significantly lowered the cost of the expansion project. The building is a blank canvas. Our vision is to make it a place of hope and healing, and we will be turning that vision into a cohesive strategy over the next few years. Some ideas for how to use the Life Change Center include: • a counseling center for both pastoral and professional counseling. • a site for established programs like Celebrate Recovery to hold meetings or classes. • a training space for experts to offer courses on everything from budgeting to parenting to marriage.
THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THE LOCAL CHURCH when it’s working right. Its beauty is indescribable. Its power is breathtaking. Its potential is unlimited. It comforts the grieving and heals the broken in the context of community. It builds bridges to seekers and offers truth to the confused. It provides resources for those in need and opens its arms to the forgotten, the downtrodden, the disillusioned. It breaks the chains of addictions, frees the oppressed, and offers belonging to the marginalized of this world. Whatever the capacity for human suffering, the church has a greater capacity for healing and wholeness. Still to this day, the potential of the local church is almost more than I can grasp. No other organization on earth is like the church. Nothing even comes close. Bill Hybels, Courageous Leadership
WHAT CAN I DO? There are two things we are asking you to do: pray fervently and give generously to the Even More project. Our dream goal is a $5 million investment in Calvary’s worship and community gathering spaces, the children’s wing, and the Life Change Center. Trusting God and making sacrifices together is the only way to make the dream a reality.
THE JOY IN GENEROSITY The Even More project is not just about changing other people’s lives; it’s about changing yours too. Generosity can change your life. Committing in faith to give a portion of your income to the work God is doing through Calvary Church is not only an act of worship to Him, but also a source of joy to both you and others.
HOW CAN I PRAY FOR EVEN MORE? Once you have determined your financial commitment to Even More, we also ask for your continued commitment to pray for the project, our church leaders and family, and the people whose lives will be changed because of what we are doing. GOD OF ALL WISDOM, give our designers, architects, and builders wisdom to create spaces that serve our church family. GOD OUR CREATOR, fill our designers, architects, and builders with creativity so that our spaces are beautiful and bring glory to You. GOD OUR PROVIDER, provide all the resources we need to fund the campus expansion. GOD OUR FATHER, work in us so that this preparation and building period is a time of spiritual growth in our church. GOD OUR SAVIOR, use this expansion project to change more lives forever in Northwest Indiana.
