Project description: Site locates in a beautiful natural scenic area which is about 80 km away from city.After several hotels and big parking lots are built,the primary natural leisure spot for citizens are replaced by a boring commercial street. The developer wants more variety of experiencing and exploring nature,and a nature- closing way for living comes first.

Phenomenology:

These lovely and vibrant life broke ground and appeared everywhere after one night’s raining, inspiring me and my design work to be friendly to environment.

Strategy:

As the mushrooms, this project is going to appear (and even be removed) with minium change to natural site. Precast and assembling on site are promoted to construct the project.As mushroom did, single columns inserting in ground support the houses, the construction is just like planting trees --Planting Houses.

Hexagon is selected as basic geometry and further research are concentrated on space partition and assembling. Divided space cells are reassembled in groups, and several of these are selected and assembled into bigger groups used as master plan.

Houses are pre-fabricated and assembled on site. The ground is partly and slightly flattened with masonry paving. The planted houses can be removed environment-friendly, so do the stones.

Site description: Site locates in old quarter of Wuhanan, an environment full of contradiction between old and new. Traditional and historic houses are tearing down to construct modern ones. Site is separated to two parts by historic houses in the middle.New houses with total area of 15000-20000㎥ are required to build. 100-150 units and 10%-20% commercial spaces should be included, all the other requirements can follow your survey and research.

Old memories not only mean old houses, but also the lifestyle.Integrated protection which rebuilds on level 2 keeps neighbourhoods structure is proposed to supplant demolishing old.

The ground floor is named Commerce. Bottom elevated broaden pedestrian’ horizons, preserving area is served as an attraction. Walls directions are optimized for best views through programmable analog. Separated

Altering part of preserved house is to connect separated sites. With inhabitancy configuration reserved, a commercial street is implanted.

3.Alteration and reservation The backside of houses is altered into commercial space while frontside and level 2 remain residential space.

Old-layer The 2th floor is named Old. Layout of architecture follows urban logic.To organize architecture like a city does, architecture becomes a city. Reforming symbol of the preserved house-roof to scuttle as a remarkable morphological detail.

Based on case study -Nemausus,Jean Novel. Functional space as kitchen and bathroom are arranged around servicing pipe, but the prototype unit is divided into smaller ones for area optimizing. Nemausus unit firstly breaks into 4,6 or12 sections and then recombines into different types.

Youth-layer The towers are affordable housing for youth and named Youth-layer. Study focuses on optimizing residential area .Area minimization guarantees serving these low-income people with comfortable, separate and private living space in affordable rate.

Various units group diversely in numerous selections.Clients can choose and design under the negotiation with each other. Holes left can work as open space and make the project more dynamic and livable. 20

Query &concept: Currently, more and more CBD are being constructed, and even more problems are coming along.

City structure:

Tightly connected

Modern city: vertical

Seriously isolated

While more floorage gained and,maybe, more green space, less and less neighborhood communication left.

A three dimensional connected city are needed.Instead of building new, altering existed ones could do more help.A three dimensional circulation space system is considered to be implanted.

Implanting a huge system compulsively will never achieve, cause a three dimensional city in science fiction will surely not be identified by citizens A recognized plan should leave clients to choose whether, when and where to build and generate the final system progressively. We are trying to develop a system with certain cells and generating rules to lead clients themselves to build a whole project partly and keep a balance between the demand for public space and the acceptance of the system.

Marking and grading rules: The deconstructed space cells are graded by two standards- close or open and difficulties of arriving. Close or open can be set 4 degrees as: A.Close B.Half-close C.Half-open D.Open Difficulty of arriving can also be set to 4 degrees based inner or outer space and upstair or ground level: a.Inner&upstair b.Outer&upstair c.Inner&ground level d.Outer&ground level. Level A(or a) is marked 4 and level D(or d) is marked 1, thus all space cells can be classified in 6 levels. (marks:8,7,6,5,4,2)
