2013 plaN of actioN accomplishmeNts Leveraging JSU I.

Emergency Management • The Emergency Management Coalition for Northeast Alabama met July 10, with 26 representatives in attendance, including the Alabama Department of Health, Regional Red Cross Representatives, County, State and Federal Partners and Volunteers • Sept. 11, was Ready JSU day, with more than 100 student and faculty volunteers meeting on the 11th floor of the library for keynote speakers and emergency response training Marketing • Filming for an Emergency Management Department ad took place during the last week of August. This commercial, which created a mock disaster scene with local emergency responders at the MAP site on McClellan using filming equipment from the State of Alabama Film Initiative, is set to air nationally • 57 Chamber member companies have participated in the internship/co-op program with the Chamber and/or Career Services • 384 applicants within 50 miles of Jacksonville, AL are now registered on Interships.com. • The next “Get Linked” event is set for Monday, October 7, 4-6 p.m. at the Hampton Inn in Jacksonville Technology • JSU is set to hold an engagement luncheon this fall, to help to build a stronger business partnership between JSU and local industry and raise awareness about available machinery and skills. More information will be announced in the coming weeks

Promote Regionalism I. Develop Cross-Promotional Efforts in Marketing & Tourism • Promoting Connecting Our Greater Communities Facebook Group to aid in cross promoting events in whole region • Regional Chambers and Convention and Visitors Bureau met with Nisa Miranda, Director at the University of Alabama Center for Economic Development, on Tourism in the Northeast Region • Clear Plan 2030 Conversation on July 11 had 10 in attendance • Regional Business After Hours held with Talladega/Lincoln Chamber of Commerce at the Talladega Superspeedway II.

Regional Campaign to promote shopping locally and regionally • Regional Shop Local Committee  Shop Local Committee members made regional visits to Chamber members in surrounding counties • Working with Media on Shop Local Campaign o Continuing TV 24 airing commercials, Consolidated Publishing Promoting and Billboard promotion
