SP Council 2019 Annual Report

MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR Our 33 agencies have continued to provide supports and services that ensure individuals with cognitive challenges are living fully in our community. Our membership's collective work is to partner with the Alberta Government, to help continually improve our system of supports, and share our understanding about individuals and families, and their lives. We support change that improves effectiveness, but we also have to mitigate the impact of change on people. Above all else, we ensure our qualified and passionate employees remain focused on responding to the individuals we support. Our membership was pleased to offer input to the PDD Review Panel from each of our agencies and from Council. We highlighted the strengths of the PDD program, along with areas for improved effectiveness. With ample opportunity to hear from the community, the PDD Review has the potential to continue with real change that increases efficiency, responsiveness to ever-changing needs, and above all else, to reaffirm the values that will guide every decision. We also recognize that gathering input is not the end of the process and we urge government to include us in important conversations and decisions that will follow. We are committed to bringing our expertise and a spirit of partnership to systems change. Our membership continually looks for ways to work better collectively, sharing our expertise and resources -- simply, to build a stronger community. We value our government partner in this work and look forward to another year of collaborating on behalf of individuals and families in Calgary. On behalf of the Council,

Erin Waite, Chair
