n addition to pursuing success in fields of competition and in the classroom, Golden Bear student-athletes place a high priority on community and campus involvement. Often coordinated through Bear SAAC, Cal’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council, Bears are engaged in many areas of service throughout the Bay Area, including local community outreach programs, such Read Across America, handing out sack lunches to the homeless, supporting Special Olympics activities, one-on-one tutoring with the Sage Mentorship Project, and Jogs for Jill to raise funds and awareness for lung cancer research.
“The passionate commitment that we have received from these esteemed individuals has been a vital key to our continued growth. Most importantly, the positive influence, which they impart unto the youth of our communities, has been simply amazing and impactful beyond belief.” Michael Okinczyc, Former President of The Sage Mentorship Project
