Treatment: Paul, Angelo, Lance, and Jonah have been best friends for years. They live in New York, just an hour or so away from Manhattan. Angelo, having strong Italian roots, has a distant second cousin known in the family to be in the mafia. Angelo is told to not talk to these cousins by his parents, who are strongly against the trade. Angelo, curious as any late teen, gets in touch with his mobster cousin. He tells his best friends about it, and in their shock, they want to know more too. Angelo knows a popular hangout of some of these mobsters, friends of his cousins. They are all nice guys, maybe too nice, but not so much to each other. Angelo and his buddies secretly make a trip to his cousin's hangout, while telling all their parents a different lie. They sneak around an old cabin next to the shore. They peer in through the windows and check the doors to see if they are unlocked. None of them are. They notice some screams coming from the basement. They make their way down around the bend of the house and see a man inside tearing up everything. This man is throwing lamps, crashing televisions, swinging a bat into the wall, and all sorts of other destructive actions. This man is screaming in Italian horrible things about Angelo's cousin, implying his murder is inevitable. Angelo grows nervous and raged all together and makes a move for the door. Angelo shakes the handle, its locked. He quickly kicks the door trying to break it open. The man inside doesn't notice because he is making too much noise himself. Angelo tells his friends about what is happening, and gets them to help him. All together, they manage to break the door open, and the man inside runs around the corner immediately swinging his bat at the four boys. In complete shock, Lance heads for the kitchen, Jonah grabs a chair, and Paul and Angelo on the ground. Lance comes back with a knife and as Jonah swings the chair the other man swings and hits Jonah in the face and knocks out Lance's legs. Lance stabbs the other man in the leg and when he hits the ground, Lance then gets him again in the heart. After realising what they have done, breaking and entering and murder on top of that, they all are in a state of panic and flee the scene leaving everything behind, except the knife. They run through the woods aimlessly for 20 minutes or so, leading them to an old barn with open doors. They run into the barn for resting and a hideout. They begin to discuss the situation in panic and frantic excitement. The horses in the barn start to become startled and stomp and neigh. The owner notices and grabs his gun and heads for the barn. The boys see out the window and see the owner coming witha gun. They immdiately leave, except for Lance as he hides in the loft above. The owner is furious about these kids and looks for one he knows is there. Jonah sneaks in on the owner but is startled by his friend Paul trying to help, and he hits Paul in the face. The owner hears it and finds them, as he points the gun at them. Lance stands up and hits the man in the face, and the man falls off the loft. They are stunned but Lance gets clipped by the shot of the owner. Jonah checks to see if the owner is still alive, and he is. They take his shotgun and leave the scene, again. The boys gather together a few miles away and talk it out. They decide their plan is to go back to where they killed the guy in Angelo's cousin's place. They make it back after some obstacles arose, and find that no one is there yet. They go inside and attempt to clean up the scene from the little forensics knowledge
Jonah never planned to ever have to use. As they try to decide what to do with the body, they decide to make it look as if another guy committed the murder. All while being called by their parents wondering where they are and missing school and work. A car pulls up just as the boys were breaking the front door window trying to stage another mans crime. The man in the car, Angelo's cousin, and a few other men came from the car and heard the shattering, so they run to the door. The boys realise they probaby heard this and run down stairs and out the back into the woods right after they throw the body next to the broken glass. One of the men hears the kids running back into the woods and follows. The boys manage to get away. They run back to the barn to check on the old man, and discover there are cops at the house investigating. Someone notices some talking and movements in the bushes, and now the boys have the cops snooping for them. The boys run to the entrance of a nearby highway, and had called a friend ahead of time to pick them up. The friend takes them back to town where he drops them off. No questions asked. This is wear they all sneak back to Lance's house where he knew his single mother wouldn't be home. They bunk out in the basement and eat from the pantry and discuss what has happened. They make up an excuse to tell their parents. They decide they were going to admit they lied and were all together and went to Manhattan for the day, but got stuck in bad traffic on the way back. They go home the next morning and tell their parents. They meet at school at lunch and asked if their excuse worked. Each one had a solid excuse reenforced by each parent calling each other and realising they all had the same story. They seem to be off the hook for the time. They see on the news a day later the crime scene, noticed by a neighbor. It was never called in, so the people who heard them break the window must've not called it in and ran away too. Alarmed by this thought, they feel much better knowing they must've left traces behind too. Plus, the boys cleaned up most their mess. Facts develop in the case and four men are caught. They leave shoe prints, and hair at the scene, confirming they were there around the time of the death. These men have been arrested before, so they were already in the crime records, making matching the DNA and suspects easy. Turns out these were wanted criminals for various crimes, mob members, and could finally be taken in for questioning. Through the information retrieved, the police department managed to make a huge bust from the investigation, starting witht the crime scene. The boys then feel okay about themselves seeing it lead to the bust of wanted criminals. But they have more than what would've been the cops on their tracks now, they have mob members.
