We’re so grateful for CAIS teachers & staff for bringing back the Global Program Taiwan trip! The perfect way to practice CAIS core values!
—The Wang FamilyThe Tom family is grateful to the CAIS leadership, faculty, and staff for challenging, instructing, and nurturing generations of lifetime learners. Thank you, CAIS families, for your aweinspiring generosity and support toward CAIS.
As Etta James sang, "At laaaast!" After such a long wait, it has felt so good throughout 20222023 to see the return of traditions where we get to connect in person. Just a few of the highlights include:
• parents being able to participate in volunteer efforts at the campuses' Thanksgiving celebrations and special classroom activities,
• the entire community gathering in-person at 19th Avenue for Mass Greeting,
• our 5th, 7th, and 8th graders having life changing trips to Taiwan this spring,
• hosting peers in early childhood education from around the country at our 6th annual ECCIF, and
• gathering again at the Ritz-Carlton tonight!
We certainly didn't of a global health crisis to appreciate these occasions, but they are all the more meaningful now that we all have a visceral understanding of the importance of continuity and connection. This deepened sense of gratitude for being together is one of the enduring silver linings of the pandemic. We've heard it time and again: our community is one of the x-factors that make CAIS exceptional.
In that spirit, I would like to recognize the efforts of ShowCAIS Co-Chairs Didem McCollum and Stefani Wedl, who have led an enthusiastic and dedicated crew of volunteers to make this special evening in support of CAIS (please see page 23)
Tonight we are not only celebrating the faculty and families who are the "secret sauce" of CAIS, we are working to ensure that we Keep Our Community Together. Please be sure to read about our special Fund-A-Need this evening on page 15. Thank you for being part of this vital initiative to honor the commitment we all make to one another.
Jeff Bissell Head of SchoolThank you Julie Farrell and chaperones for the Global Program this year! It made a life changing, world changing difference to study in Taiwan!
Thank you for a great year, CAIS teachers & community!

For ShowCAIS Masquerade Ball, we're thrilled to be able to use masks for a bit of mystery and fun (not just as safety gear) and to be back in The Ritz Ballroom! Like so many of you, our first ShowCAIS memories were at The Ritz-Carlton; for families who joined since the pandemic, we're so glad that we're able to bring you back to our gala's elegant "home." Tonight, we are honored to carry the torch passed on by cochairs past and especially glad that we're able to lead Advancement Director Pam Winthrop's 10th and final ShowCAIS. It makes us proud to be part of a fantastic CAIS tradition that blends a great time with an even better cause—our school!
We are grateful for the parents, teachers, and staff who have gone above and beyond to make this evening a success, and we especially want to thank the following:
• The many families who have donated the items and experiences that make up our Live, Silent, and Online Auctions.
• CAIS faculty and staff for graciously helping out with Live Auction items and Party Sign
• Party Sign Up Co-Chairs Jennifer Chan and Jennifer Leong and the Party Sign Up Hosts who created community building events so popular that many sold out in record time (please see page 21).
• Our dedicated parent ShowCAIS Reps for letting everyone know what a great time this will be (please see page 23)
• Our Sponsorship Committee for bringing the vital early support (please see page 23)
• Creative Consultant and Emcee Laura Lockwood for her advice and crowdwrangling abilities.
• DJ Annie Yu for graciously agreeing to keep us all grooving on the dance floor tonight!
Looking through the Live and Silent Auction offerings from families and faculty and the impressive lists of generous sponsors, party hosts, and volunteers, it's so clear how much we care for one another in this community. Many thanks to everyone who has donated time, energy, and resources to make this evening a success!

Congratulations to the CAIS 5th Grade on their exciting and highly successful trip to Taiwan!

When you think of CAIS, does your mind go first to a collection of rooms or particular schoolwork? Most likely the first thing you picture are people: your child and their teachers, your child and their friends, your fellow parent friends! Sure, program and place are important components of your families’ experience, but the most critical piece is the people who become such an important part of your lives. This fact is even more apparent as we appreciate our community connections even more following the pandemic.
Enrolling a student at CAIS is a special commitment to partner with a family for the long haul. A CAIS education is integrally tied to the experience with the peers and families and faculty who are here today and throughout a child’s time at the school. For the sake of all CAIS families, it is vital to preserve our community and make sure that everyone who is here can stay here regardless of financial circumstances.
Over the years, the Board of Trustees has implemented programs that underscore this important fact: every person in our community makes an impact. In 2018 we moved to an Adjusted Tuition model, a key initiative to make the full CAIS experience available to our whole community. Today, one out of five CAIS families pays Adjusted Tuition.
The majority of ShowCAIS proceeds support the annual operating budget, but each year
Fund-A-Need dollars are earmarked to an extraordinary opportunity that can bridge multiple years and falls outside of annual expenditures.
The special purpose for ShowCAIS FundA-Need this year is Keeping Our CAIS Community Together. FundA-Need will be earmarked to supercharge the Adjusted Tuition budget in light of inflation and economic pressures.
“Special thanks to the teachers and staff who made this amazing trip and lifelong memories happen for our kids!”
