Celebrating A Century By Giving Back
Cades Schutte has always made giving back to the community a priority. This year, in celebration of its centennial year, the firm is starting The Hoʻokupu for 100 Initiative led by partner Trever K. Asam. To honor our commitment to serving the community, the firm will be coordinating and sponsoring pro bono and volunteer activities throughout the year. For attorneys and staff that provide at least 10 hours of volunteer or pro bono service through these activities, the firm will donate $100 to the 501(c)(3) organization of the individual’s choice.

For our first volunteer activity in February, approximately forty Cades Schutte attorneys and staff gathered at Kailua Beach for a beach cleanup sponsored by Sustainable Coastlines. Stacey F. Gray and Caitlin M. Moon took the lead in coordinating the event, and our volunteers worked diligently sifting through the sand to find microplastics and waste in the naupaka plants along the beach.
In addition, for all of March, Cades Schutte attorneys staffed the Hawaii State Bar Association Legal Lines. This program runs every Wednesday evening, with attorneys answering a telephone hotline and providing free legal information to the public (not legal advice).
Mallory T. Martin served as the organizer for this year’s Legal Lines, and attorneys Pōhai Nu‘uhiwa Campbell, Jarrett A. Dempsey, Sachi E. Hiatt, Bryce M. Nakamura, Molly A. Olds, Reyn S. P. Ono, W. Davis Prendergast, Nicole K. C. Yamane, Nathan C. Yang, Janine M. Yim, and Michael Soon Fah participated.
