FEATURE STORY: YBTC Canada in the Community I n No v e m b e r, 2 0 1 2 Cathy Campbell and Catherine Wieckowska presented to the Ontario School Safety Education Officers Community Committee (OSSEOC) at the York Region Police station. Police and community officers were in attendance, from various jurisdictions within southern Ontario. Attendees participated in Lesson 8: Milk Rainbow, and many are interested in incorporating YBTC activities into their community programs.

Through the OSSEOC presentation, YBTC Canada was contacted by a fellow presenter from BOOST Child Abuse Prevention & Inter vention, located in Toronto. BOOST is a charity committed to eliminating abuse and violence in the l ives of children, youth, and their families. We worked with BOOST to identify lesson plans that they could use to help their groups interpret their emotions. YBTC Canada then donated a Chemistr y To Go Kit to help them run some of the experiments. In Januar y of 2013, Cathy and Catherine presented the You Be The Chemist 速 Canada program to 10 teachers at Canadian Martyrs Catholic Elementar y School located in Burlington, ON. By hosting a complimentar y lunch workshop we were able to engage all of the science teachers. They have committed to using the program within their school. YBTC Canada will be back at the school in June to conduct a hands-on experiment with the students.
