CALLUM MCCONNACHIE UNIT 3 RADICAL ARCHITECTURE

~30% OF GLASWEGIANS WISH TO HAVE THEIR REMAINS BURIED AFTER THEIR DEATHS. THERE IS NOT ENOUGH SPACE IN THE URBAN FABRIC OF THE CITY FOR THIS TO CONTINUE WITHOUT CHANGE. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE LEST THE GREEN CITY’S PARKS BE CONVERTED TO GARDEN CEMETERIES. THE PEOPLE MAKE THE CITY AND THE CITY IS A TESTIMENT AND MONUMENT TO THE LIVES THAT HAVE ELAPSED WITHIN ITS BOUNDS. THE DEAD SHOULD NOT BE CONFIDED TO HINTERLAND GARDEN CEMETERIES WHEN THEY HAVE LIVED AND DIED IN GLASGOW. A MEMORIAL SACE IS REQUIRED WITHIN GLASGOW WHERE THE DEAD CAN BE REMEMBERED AND HONORED, AND REMAIN PART OF THE CITY. THERE WILL BE A NEW SERIES OF MEMORIAL, BURIAL AND CREMATED ARCHIVE SPACES IN THE CENTER-EAST OF GLASGOW, FOCUSED AROUND A HUB IN DENNISTOUN. PERIPHERAL BURIAL SPACES WILL BE IN SALTMARKET AND GALLOWGATE.
