Introduction

Do you want to learn about ancient Egypt’s weapons and war? Did you know that Egyptians attacked their African neighbors? Here you will learn about their weapons, armor, material’s, and who fought in war! If you want to learn more cool facts than read on!

Who fought in war? Do you wonder who fought in war? Who helped win many battles? This is the place to find out! Early kings raided African neighbors, bringing back riches including gold. Farmers where summoned to go to war. During the new kingdom, Egypt made its empire bigger. Archers fired a group of arrows from the shore to stop the ships of the attackers from landing. The lionheaded goddess Sekhmet was the goddess of aggression. When the Egyptians went to war,they thought that Sekhmet, and other gods and goddesses, battled with them. Officers are in charge of groups of 50 soldiers. The one’s carrying spears, shields, and battle axes are given orders by a trumpet. Elite one’s rode to battle in light horse-drawn chariots driven by a driver and a fighter, the chariot has a short shield, spear, and bow in it. Fearful that death would lead to a bad afterlife Egyptians often hired mercenaries to fight their battles. Next you will learn about the types of armor the Egyptians wore!

What types of armor did they wear? Do you ever wonder about the ancient Egypt armor? What types of armor they wore? If they even had armor at all? Then check out this paragraph! In battle an Egyptian was sometimes riding a chariot. Some of their body would be protected from the chariot. They rarely wore protection except for their shields and helmets. Soldiers also wore armor. They were protected by large shields made of wood rather than heavy armor. Some Egyptian soldiers had leather shields. The king wore some armor too. He/she wore armor made from leather scales. He also wore sandals on his feet. Archers wore armor as well. They would sometimes pull back their bow strings into a triangular shape, pulling the string back to their ears. An archer wore a wrist protector on his left wrist to protect himself from the pain of the bow string when shooting an arrow. The tone-shaped area of the wrist protector goes from the wrist into the palm. The bone guard protected the finger from pain made by the string on the bow (made of animal gut) as he drew his bow. After this you will learn about what types of materials they used to make many things.

A few materials are silver, gold, ivory/white, ebony/black, and every type of stone. The Egyptians made at least part of the copper they needed. They used iron so many times that it broke. They used all the tin to make bronze. Stone was more expensive than it. There was bronze in the middle kingdom and iron in the new kingdom. The first arrow tips were made of flint. The horseshoe shaped ones were made to hurt. The triangle shaped ones were made to kill the enemy right away. Gold flies were given to a soldier who had done well in combat. Finally you will learn about the cool ancient Egyptian weapons!

Swords of different lengths were used in battles in ancient Egypt.

The axe was used as a weapon all over the Middle East. The one with a silver handle has a long blade made for a slicing motion. The mace was a type of club that was used in battles. It could be very deadly if the person. Using it was very strong. It was made of stone and wood. I hope you learned a lot about this section, but it’s not all over. Thank you for reading my article. Glossary Bronze: A yellowish-brown allay of copper with up to one-third tin. Chariot: A two-wheeled horse-drawn vehicle used in ancient warfare and racing. Elite: A group of people considered to be the best in a particular society or category, esp. because of their power, talent, or wealth. Empire: A big state or a group of states under one salvation. Gold Flies: Move through the air under control. Flint: A hard quartz, which is a crystal like mineral. Mercenaries: A professional soldier hired to serve in a foreign army. Raided: Quickly take something from a place.

Scimitar: A short sword with a curved blade that broadens toward the point. Summoned: Called on by somebody.
