Thelevel of safety in Little India is high as Little Indiais a very controlled area and there are police patrolling across the district during peak hours. The Little India district is filled with shophouses and roads. Th shophouses serve as commercialbuildings currently.A portionof these shophouses still serve as living quarters for migrantworkers.

Some hazards will be road safety. Since theshophouses 5- foot walkways are a bit crowded during peak hours and someshophouses use the walkway space to push their business to the customers.A number of people areused to walking on the roadwhich is a safety hazard.

Additionally,people are seen sittingon curbs due to the lack of seating area, whichcan lead to accidents as they might be at the drivers' blind spot.

Pavementswereverynarrow, and some paths were cracked and broken. Mostof the walkways are above the drainage system, and overtime, the drain covers have warped and becomeuneven, which makes it less comfortable to walk on.

Back alleys are also usually used by thestaff during their breaks, and the space is also usuallyused to place theextra or broken furniture and the garbage bins.

The birds inthe area, especially thecrows,maketheplace seem unsanitary, and give off an ominous vibe when large groups gather to feed on the organic waste like food waste from eateries, andfresh produce stores.

- Little India is safe due to the fact that it is heavily controlled by the government and frequent patrols by the police. - However, this does not mean Little India is safe because the people are “good”. - Additionally, there are still crimes being committed in Little India, especially at Tekka Centre.

- It is observed that a majority of migrant workers and their friends sit around in the open spaces to have their meals and chat with each other. - There are very few benches or seating areas for people to sit on to rest. - The pavements were very narrow and some paths were cracked and broken, making it hard to walk around.

Upkeep and maintenance of the streets (cleanliness)

- Many pavements and curbs can be seen broken and poorly maintained. They were either cracked, broken, and unstable to use. - Back alleys and secluded roads were not tidied up. They were filled with either rubbish or unused furniture.
