Dear Hereford Breeders and Enthusiasts, Welcome to the Inaugural National Western Hereford Sale “Herefords in the Yards”. We look forward to the new format offered to Hereford breeders in Denver for 2022. The sale will be held in the all-new Stockyards Sale Center at the National Western Livestock Show. For over a century, the very best Hereford genetics in the world have exhibited and been sold at the National Western. This year, as we make our way back to Denver, it is with great pleasure that we reintroduce the Yards component in merchandising Hereford genetics. The bulls and females presented in this catalog represent some of the finest genetics available today in the entire breed. They are the type of genetics that can make an immediate impact in a lone generation in any program coast to coast. In addition to the live lots, we are offering some “pick of the herds” that represent the type of elite genetics that aren’t available anywhere at any time. We wish to invite you to the 2022 National Western Hereford Sale. If you are unable to make it to Denver, the sale will be broadcast on CCI.Live. If you have any questions about the sale offering, please contact myself, the sale consultants, or any member of the sale staff. Welcome back to the National Western … welcome back to the Yards. CHOICE OF TOPP HEREFORDS BRED HEIFERS

This is something we have never offered before, especially on this scale. You’re bidding on the opportunity to tap into the number one resource we have…our replacement bred heifers. Our maternal battery is bred for and focused on one primary goal … raising commercial bulls. We believe that a true Seedstock operation’s commitment is to develop genetics that ultimately drive the meat industry forward. Our success is measured by our contribution to the sustainability of our commercial cow-calf customers. Our cow herd is built on a foundation of four core values: udder quality, soundness, fertility and pounds. The structure by which we analyze these traits may be called old-fashioned by some. However, the process is real and exceptionally ruthless. Udder quality is determined at calving time by a simple 1-2 rating system. A 1 is great and a 2 is a cull. Soundness is determined during spring vaccination season. A female with a cracked foot, bad joints, poor disposition or hard-doing is sorted off and not even bred. Fertility sorts itself out quickly with a 45-day breeding season. Finally, pounds weaned. If they don’t bring in a heavy calf, there is a pretty good chance she won’t be calving here next spring. To round out our selection process, we have been DNA testing since 2013 to provide parentage, identify genetic defect status and increase the accuracy of EPDs. Buyer will have the opportunity to select from over 230 bred heifers carrying a heifer pregnancy. The majority of these bred heifers are AI bred. All will be calved out to further enhance the selection process. Selection is to be determined between May 1st and May 15th.

CHOICE OF KING RANCH 2021 GENESIS DAUGHTERS

KING R ANCH CHOICE OF GENESIS DAUGHTERS

Genesis X Belle Air

Genesis X Pure Gold

When they refer to New Mexico as the Land of Enchantment, they’re without a doubt talking about this offering from Bill King! Bill will open his herd to one selection from his impressive lineup up daughters of the most exciting bull in the Herford breed today, LOEWEN GENESIS G16. Bill has worked for years in New Mexico developing one of the top Hereford programs in the country based upon the breed leading Colyer Herefords bloodlines. When you think back to the top sires in recent Hereford breed history, they line the pedigrees of Bill’s production females. Bulls such as 88X, Miles McKee, Belle Air, New Era, 5280, Trust, 860U, Maui Jim, Wildcat, Pure Gold, among others. There are a total of 22 Spring Yearling Genesis heifers to select from. When all the Genesis partners gathered right here at the National Western in 2020, they drew names out of a hat to establish the order each would have for walking rights. Bill won the first breeding season, so what you have as part of this pick is the first natural service heifer calves by this great sire. Out of the 22 heifers, 15 are January/early February natural service. The 7 ET females are out of two of Bill’s top performing donor cows. One of these donors is an 11-year-old, powerful, Pure Gold donor that has her influence all over the King cowherd. She has recorded progeny ratios of 7@107 for WW, 6@106 for YW and 7@113 for IMF. She’s built for longevity as her sire has 229 progeny on record. The other donor represented in this pick is an 88X/Pure Gold 7-year-old cow. They retained several of her sons as herd sires, and they annually wean off some of the heaviest calves. In addition, Abby has success showing a daughter at Fort Worth. Genesis is quickly proving himself as a performance sire. Of all the sisters in this group, they rank in the top 5% of the breed for YW, top 10% for WW, MARB, CHB and CW and top 20% for REA, all while being right at breed average for BW. The entire selection of heifers will be DNA tested and have GE-EPDs for the buyer to make his or her selection. Bill would like to retain two future flushes at his expense and your convenience on the heifer you choose. You’re sure to find a tremendous breeding piece in this offering!

UPS Entice 9365 ET You could almost fill a book to accurately describe the impact 45C has had on the Hereford breed, as well as the revenue generating potential of her progeny! When Atkins & Delaney marketed her in their sale this past Spring, we jumped at the opportunity. Considering the impact she will have on our program, her $87,000 price tag is a worthy investment. 45C has generated well over $300,000 in live progeny and has sons working in some of the most prestigious herds in America. As the mother of herd bulls, her sons include: Prominent, Stand Out, Benton, Substance and Miles Ahead, among others. Her full brother, Munson, was Junior Calf Champion in 2019 right here at the NWSS and sold for $60,000 in the Mile High Night Sale. We’re offering you the opportunity to take your choice of her first set of calves that’re born here at our ranch. We have 15 pregnancies sired by UPS ENTICE 9365 ET, an Endure son out of a dam to 2296’s full sister. Look for these progeny to be loaded with power and eye appeal. Pregnancies are due 2/25 and 3/30/22 with the buyer can make his or her choice after that. We do request that the choice be made by May 1st, 2022.

Venture is a herd sire that has captured our attention from birth on. This breeding piece in the making checks all the boxes in every category imaginable! Sired by the most popular bull in the breed for two years, Genesis, this young prospect has set himself apart from nearly all other progeny. Along with Genesis, he combines possibly the second most innovative sire in recent history with Validated. If you were to design a herd sire that is 100% designed for today’s beef industry, the Jensen family has done it! Among the 264 Genesis sons on record, Venture ranks in the top 6 with his combination of Rib Eye Area and Marbling. In addition, he combines a low birthweight along with explosive growth and high maternal. His young Validated donor dam was our pick from Birdwell Ranch in 2019. She is the lone female in the breed with her combination of BW, WW, YW, REA, MARB and $CHB. She’s been a great producer for us recording progeny ratios of 6@102 for WW and 2@106 for IMF. Along with his excellent phenotype, Venture checks is ideal in his total EPD makeup. He ranks in the top 1% of the breed for MARB, Top 2% for CHB and SC, Top 4% for REA and YW, Top 5% for WW, Top 10% for CW, Top 15% for MG, and top 25% for BW and SCF … and he’s HOMOZYGOUS POLLED. Venture is your shot at making a huge impact not only in your own program, but the entire Hereford breed.

WR CH Miss Throttle 2D ET

As many breeders are continually on the lookout for the next great horned herd sire, Jon David may have come up with the perfect prospect. Dispatch 19J combines some of the best maternal lines with outstanding phenotype along with an excellent EPD profile. You’ll be hard pressed to find a more maternal pedigree. By combining Hometown 10Y, Sensation, 88X and 78P, you’re guaranteed to have calf crop after calf crop loaded with top replacement daughters. This unmatched maternal performance is boosted by excellent phenotype once you throw Full Throttle in the mix. 19J’s dam combines every trait that is demanded from cattleman across the USA. She has ideal udder structure, big footed with perfect claw shape, big bone, bold in her rib design, soft made and efficient. 2D’s mother commanded $25,000 in Stuber’s production sale. When Curry Herefords offered 2D for sale, Jon David felt it was an opportunity to get in on a game changer female. When you sort the Hereford database for the major economically relevant traits of BW, WW, YW, CW, FAT, REA and MARB, Dispatch 19J is one of nine horned sires in the breed with his combination or better of these traits. This is the sort of EPD profile that matters most when selling commercial sons. Dispatch 19J ranks in the top 3% of the breed for REA, top 4% for CW, top 10% for $CHB and FAT, top 15% for YW, top 20% for WW and MG and top 25% for SCF & MM … all with a moderate BW EPD.

With the untimely passing of Resolute 128D, the Hereford breed couldn’t fully experience the impact he would have made … until his full brother came on the scene! After visiting with Alvin and tracking the progeny of his dam, Tom & Bog Hug jumped at the opportunity to own a piece of Rewind 147E. As of this printing, he has been used in 15 different herds across the country and has 145 recorded progeny. Rewind is poised to make an even bigger impact on our breed than Resolute. Here is the first chance to purchase one of his daughters ready to enter production. These 4 heifers represent Katherine & Tom’s very best, and most valuable product. Tom has always been a big proponent of data collection, and if you take time to study the performance pedigrees of these heifers, you’ll see they are backed by generations of strong maternal performance. 0059 is Homozygous Polled and out of a dam whose recorded progeny records of 7@99 for WW, 5@101 for YW & 3@102 for IMF. 0057’s dam recorded 4@105 for WW, 2@102 for REA & 2@106 for IMF. 0037’s dam recorded 4@101 for WW, & 3@101 for YW. These 3 sisters will be awfully tough to sort from! Our alternate heifer is no slouch either. This X651 daughter is out of a first calf heifer with a nursing ratio of 107 … and Homozygous Polled! Rewind sired the highest average daily gain steer of the Purebred and Commercial divisions of the National Junior Hereford Association 2021 Fed Steer Shootout. The Purebred steer had an average daily gain of 5.81 lbs./day while grading Low Choice (SM 00) with a 15.0in2 ribeye area and total gain of 688 lbs. from start to finish at the feed yard. The Commercial steer garnered an average daily gain of 5.71 lbs./day and graded Low Choice (SM 98) with a 13.2in2 ribeye area and total gain of 930 lbs. from the start of the contest to the end date. Rewind cannot only produce practical cows and powerful bulls, but he can also produce calves that can perform in the feed yard and on the rail. How many times can you select bred heifers that put together all the pieces … progressive pedigrees, complete actual performance, tremendous EPDs along with this kind of eye appeal.

• 0257 might be a May, but she’s keeping up with her April pen mates. She’s balanced, consistent and sound. Combining Hometown 10Y on the topside and Trust 100W on the bottom side, she should bring quality to your herd.

CSU really dug deep into the heart of their replacements to put together a set of bred heifers that combine the top genetics available today along with a great eye appealing package. They will all have DNA results by sale day and will be updated. All four of these heifers are safe AI to INNISFAIL WHR X651/723 4020 ET and due 4/14/2022. CSU is retaining 2 flushes on chosen heifer at the buyer’s convenience and CSU’s expense. PAP scores are available for all females. Videos can be found at: https://bit.ly/CSU_NWSS_Sale

Since 1935, Storey Hereford Ranch has been raising Hereford cattle in the Gallatin Valley of Montana. Yet, over all those years, this will mark the first pen of Hereford heifers that the ranch has hauled to the National Western Stock Show. In 2021, our set of replacement heifers were as deep as they ever had been, and we knew it was time to make the commitment and haul a pen to Denver. We truly had no intentions of selling any of these females, and just keeping them in our herd. However, Justin Stout can be awfully convincing, and we agreed to offer “Choice” in our 2021 Pen of Heifers.

STO R E Y H E R E FO R D R A N C H C H O I C E O F PE N O F H E I F E R S

Our goals are simple; to keep the commercial cow-calf operator profitable, sustainable, and maintaining their legacy. With those goals in mind, feel confident in knowing that feet, bags, and the inherent longevity of the cow, are constantly at the top of our list. These pen heifers stem from our most productive and profitable cows. Not only will they compete with the best of them on a national stage, but most importantly, they have the ability to generate a substantial return on investment.

• Never before offered outside our own production sale, here is a direct daughter of Diana 5129C; the cow that has single-handedly shaped our entire herd. Every HighSelling heifer or bull we have ever sold, is a maternal sibling to 1110. Each year, we can expect our best calves from 5129C, and this 2296 daughter was kept in herd for a reason. Stunning to evaluate, she is big ribbed, structurally elite, and as gentle as they come.

10C SHR 8048 MS WHIT 1100

• When giving herd tours, the Sonora 6022 cow is always referenced as one of our most productive females. In 2018, we sold an incredible sister to this heifer calf that was one of our High Selling females and purchased by Dry Creek Farms. The one thing we can always expect from them, are immaculate bags. Very refined, square and level, we love what our 6022 daughters have come to be known for. This Long Haul daughter is long, smooth in her design, incredibly sound and very cowy.

• In 2019, we purchased NJW Whit 33B from the NJW Program, and have been incredibly happy with his progeny. This gorgeous Whit daughter goes back to our Diana 5129C cow, and embodies the elite, progressive kind that we have come to expect from that cow family. If you’re looking for a heifer calf that can compete with the best of them through the showring, this just might be your answer. Truly exciting to evaluate.

• Another Whit 33B daughter, this time going back to our 1102 cow; the oldest, most productive cow in our entire herd. This dark red, goggle-eyed heifer calf embodies the kind of Hereford females we are trying to replicate in volume. Stout, square, 1 things . 1 4right. . 2Again, 2 we had no intentions of bold and massive, she does so many selling any of these Pen Heifers. This is truly a unique opportunity.

Kendi Miigerl fell in love with Hereford cattle at a young age, so it was no surprise she starter her junior show career with Hereford heifers. As her career as a junior has come to an end, she has continued her passion for Hereford females as a breeder. Now with the foundation of their cowherd built upon maternal excellence, these three females represent some of the very best to ever walk the Miigerl Ranch.

Two great full sister donors that most definitely are at the forefront of the breed to choose a flush from. Their flawless phenotype is only one indication of their potential for great things to come for their ET progeny. The 593F cow is a powerful daughter of WHITEHAWK WARRIOR 845C ET, and the dam of one of the most exciting young bulls in the breed, WHITEHAWK RINGMASTER 396H. Just take a look at her EPD performance. She is one of only 11 females in the breed that possesses this combination of REA, MARB and $CHB. She is a tremendous trait leader ranking in the top 1% of the Hereford breed for 8 total traits! Her sister, 590F, is no slouch herself. She offers a little more moderate birthweight while still retaining incredible growth, maternal and carcass EPDs. She ranks in the top 1% of the breed for MARB and CHB, top 2% for WW, top 4% for YW and MG, top 10% for CW, top 15% for MM and top 25% for REA. Their dam, 4010, is a full sister to two of the most popular AI sires in the breed today, 4013 and 4020. She’s recorded progeny ratios of 13@104 for REA and 13@109 for IMF. Take your choice of either flush that is guaranteed to give you at least 6 frozen embryos, with NO CAP, and get ready for ET progeny that will take you to the next level.

Year in, year out, when you look at the top selling bulls during the National Western, Krebs Ranch almost always ranks among the top sellers. These three herd sire prospects Ty is bringing this year might be the very best he’s ever brought. They are out of the top two donor cows running at Krebs Ranch. The first two half brothers are out of a tremendous, straight horned female, JCS MISS BUTTERCUP 7296 that combines two outstanding maternal legends, 88X & 5216. Buttercup is quickly rising to the top of the donor pen after an illustrious show career that included national titles at NWSS & FWSS. In her young donor career, she is already producing champions and herd bulls, and with either of these brothers the future is bright with their herd sire careers. The High Noon son, Justified, is a bull built to add power and red meat. He’s a trait leader for many of the major economically relevant traits. Justified ranks in the top 1% of the breed for WW & YW, top 2% for FAT, Top 3% for REA and top 4% for CW. His half-brother, Jennings, is designed to add style to a set of daughters. Sired by the multichampion, Logic, he brings a little more moderate BW EPD with growth & carcass numbers still in the top quartile of the breed. The third herd sire prospect is out of the great donor dam of K RUSTIC 711 ET. Rustic commanded $120,000 right here at the National Western, and he has gone on to sire many high sellers and champions. His dam, “Peggy”, has been flawless in her career as a donor. She has featured 17 young herd sires that have averaged $21,000. Jericho may have the most balanced set of EPDs of these bulls ranking in the top 10% of the breed for YW, top 15% for WW, CW & $CHB and top 20% for CE & REA.

• The 2078 bull, sired by Bell Ringer offers a terrific blend of performance and style, and you will be hard pressed to put together a pedigree with better carcass performance. He ratioed 174 on his IMF! Tom purchased his dam from Mill Creek Ranch and she goes back to one of the most proven, foundation cow families to ever walk their place, 1245. The 362 cow has been a great performer for Tom recording progeny ratios of 6@101 for WW, 5@99 for REA and 5@116 for IMF.

• 2073 offers a unique mating, combining a 1321 son that has done a good job for K7 back to Sandhill genetics on the bottom side. Again, great carcass performance here … just look at the REA epd! His young dam recorded a REA ratio of 111 over 2 head.

• Rounding out the K7 pen is a pretty unique horned bull. Out of a really good 177R son that came from Cooper, this bull is designed for growth. He ratioed 101 at WW, 103 at a year, and a whopping 113 on his IMF. Continuing the theme of highly productive maternal pedigree’s, the 621 cow has posted progeny ratios of 3@100 for WW, 2@103 for YW and 2@106 for REA.

Tom has put together a heck of a pen of bulls ready for immediate turnout! These fall yearling all offer something different and unique in pedigree, but all three tie it together with both their eye appeal an the potential impact they can make in a single generation. Either direction you go, these three herd sire prospects are designed for today’s beef business built around highly productive, proven maternal performance along with super carcass merit. They came off grass pasture in October and are not over condition, but they’re ready to go work.

Landgren Ranch is a seedstock and commercial operation based in the sandhills of Nebraska. The seedstock portion began from a great friendship with Brent & Robin Meeks of Upstream Ranch. In the tradition and culture of the Hereford industry, our goal is to produce bulls with commercial cattlemen in mind. We accomplish this through balanced trait selection, emphasizing on structural integrity, fleshing ability and profitability.

• Power and performance never go out of style, and this guy is just chalked full of it. He carries a huge top into a massive hip, yet he’s got style and eye appeal. He’s built a lot like his sire, Standout, who was popular for Delaneys in the yards in 2020. • Top 1% for WW, YW, M&G and REA. Homozygous Polled.
