Improvements made through R&D Even after the release of the Tenergy with four different pimple shapes, Butterfly’s Research and Development Department has been working on prototypes for new pimple shapes. Everything they did was in order to create high-performance rubbers to meet the various needs of players. During the years of trial and error, the methods and accuracy of rubber performance measurement have improved. We have completed the Tenergy 19 by combining the Spring Sponge with no. 219, which has been proven to have high performance through objective measurement. “19” debuts as a member of the Tenergy series, which has produced many achievements in table tennis. Densely allocated pimples with a smaller diameter Tenergy 19 uses 1.5 mm pimples with dense allocation that are tailored towards performance and spin.

Numerous tests showed high speed and spin values, especially when the ball is hit with power.
Compared to the popular Tenergy 05, the unique strengths of Tenergy 19 become obvious.
Slim pimples such as no. 219 depress and flatten more easily. Therefore, when the ball hits the rubber, the ball doesn’t slip on the rubber but digs into it. The rubber “holds” the ball in place.

We managed to enhance the touch of “holding the ball” more by combining Spring Sponge and the top sheet with development code no. 219’s pimple shape. Since the ball is more likely to fly in the direction of racket swing, precision is increased and the pronounced arc allows for deep shots into the opponents’ field. * Performance comparison with Dignics 05, Tenergy 19 and Tenergy 05 as results by the unique tests carried out by Butterfly.
The power pushing the ball back against the rubber is generated by each pimple in contact with the sponge. With slimmer pimples, the total number of affected pimples is increased. This mechanism generates a top sheet where a ball will not slip on the rubber nor easily yield to the opponent’s strong shots, and is the key to bringing high performance to the rubber.

THE 70TH ANNIVERSARY The Tamasu Co., Ltd. celebrates the 70th anniversary of its foundation on 19th December 2020. Our sincere gratitude to all for the continued support to our development over the years. Since foundation in the former Yanai Town, Yamaguchi prefecture in Japan on 19th December 1950, as a dedicated manufacturer we have delivered a multitude of equipment for table tennis players all over the globe, the motto: “Keep digging the small well, loyal to the table tennis world.” On the occasion of the anniversary, we hope to convey the magnificence of the sport to more people by providing continually improved standards of equipment.
Hikosuke Tamasu – 100th anniversary of the birth of the founder Hikosuke Tamasu was born exactly one hundred years ago on August 20, 1920, in Yanai, Japan, as the eldest son of the Tamasu family. Hikosuke began to devote himself to table tennis, a sport for which there were few competitors at the time. Later, as he further honed his skills, he won prizes in all events at the All Japan Table Tennis Championships. His passion for table tennis did not stop even after his career as a player had ended, therefore in 1950 he established Tamasu Co. Ltd. in order to create table tennis equipment. His pioneering activities went beyond the bounds of being a simple equipment manufacturer. These ventures included developing in-house production of high-quality products, the first issue of the instructional magazine “Table Tennis Report”, and the construction of the training facility “Butterfly Table Tennis Dojo”, which attracted thousands of table tennis players from far and wide. He passed away in July 2004 after witnessing the exponential growth of the Butterfly brand and the meteoric rise of the sport of table tennis. Goals which he had worked so tirelessly for. Hikosuke was quoted as saying: “Players are flowers in the table tennis world, and they are the very enchantment of table tennis, we would like to be butterflies flying around the flowers providing them the essential needs in the table tennis world”
