Minutes of General Meeting Logan & Beaudesert Bushwalkers 12th May 2015 Minutes of Bushwalking Meeting held 12 May 2015. Meeting opened: 7.10 p.m. with acting president, Brian Watson, acting treasurer, Regina Harvey, and acting secretary, Peter Rice, assuming the respective chairs. Apologies: Heather O’Keeffe, Sue Simpson, Monique Rotheut, Paulette Watson, Julia Watkins, Lynne and Malcolm Hill. Minutes of previous meeting: One member drew the attention of the acting president to the omission of two attendees to that meeting from the list of those who had attended. Omission resolved and then their acceptance moved by Karen Roache and seconded by Bruce Ludlow. Treasurer’s report: Closing balance of $3 143.49. Moved by acting treasurer, Regina, seconded by Sue McLeod and thirded by Alice Adler-Bennet. Correspondence: Inwards: Friends on Foot, Brisbane Bushwalkers. Outwards: Nil. Inwards received moved by acting secretary, Peter Rice and Seconded by Alice Adler-Bennet. General Business: Friday Night Social: Organised by Bill Dryburgh. VENUE: Thai Masola. Only sixteen nominated so far. More are needed. Some would like to see a bigger discount to members paid for out of club funds. Discussion on Secret Santa. Moved by Karen Roache and seconded by Ken Bouyer that there be no Secret Santa. Passed. QUEEN”S BIRTHDAY WEEKEND. WHERE: Emu Creek. DATE: 5/6/7 June or 6/7 June, depending on you. *Dave has booked for nine people but there is room for additional attendees. The only facility is running water. Saturday Walk: To Lincoln Wreck 2
Sunday Walk: Steamer’s Wreck. Lincoln Wreck is more interesting but Steamer’s Wreck has better views. Steamer’s walk can be an easy walk to the waterfall or a harder walk to the top. Walks may be alternated. If you don’t want to walk you can sit around the campsite or go on short walks. COST: Six dollars per night. CONTACT: Dave up until the Thursday prior to departure. NEW WALK: Members have checked out a new walk from Illinbah Road near Canungra. It is up one ridge to a cave and then down an adjoining ridge. Can be done in several hours and be finished before lunch. WYARALONG DAM THROUGHWALK: DATE: 27/28 June 2015. Andrew has had considerable interest in his proposed through walk for beginners, twelve, so far. This will be along the Shoreline Trail at Wyaralong with the option of climbing Mt Joyce. Overnight will be spent at Base Camp or the farm house where there is a water tank. Anyone else interested, contact Andrew. WALK REPORTS: Acting Secretary gave a brief overview of his first day on Alpine Walk. Ken Bouyer gave a brief report on Milford Sound Walk. Perfect weather. Driest walk of the 205 that the guide had led. Skies as clear as a bell and fantastic view. Andrew McLeod spoke briefly on his walk at Spring Mountain and White Rock – a good walk. Meeting closed at 8.10 p.m.

Walk Grading’s Walkers Guide: Participants are required to read and understand the Grading System for activities as listed. They should ensure that they are able to complete the listed walk. New members will normally start with two shorter and easier walks with the Club, such as easy terrain, easy fitness, and or short to medium length and progress by one grading step per activity.
