The book is a highly accessible and muchacclaimed user’s manual providing intellectual tools for taking apart legal questions. It is indispensable for students of the law and a lively read for experienced practitioners. Reviews and sample chapters can be found at A member of BU Law’s prestigious faculty since 1997, Professor Farnsworth teaches courses on a wide range of subjects, including contracts, torts, civil procedure and rhetoric. He previously clerked for Anthony M. Kennedy, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court and Richard A. Posner, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. He has also served as a legal advisor to the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal in The Hague. In addition to The Legal Analyst, Professor Farnsworth is the co-author of Torts: Cases and Questions, a casebook published in 2004, as well as a pair of books on chess that are available on the Internet. His next book, on the subject of rhetoric, is forthcoming in 2009.
