Burnside Police Department “An Honor To Serve”

For Immediate Release: June 15, 2011 The Burnside Police Department responded to report of a hit and run injury accident on US Highway 27 near Hampton’s Marathon at 10:52 pm. Upon arrival units learned that a 1989 Toyota passenger car, operated by Rhonda Mason age 48 of Furlong Avenue Burnside, was traveling northbound on US 27 and was attempting to turn across the southbound lane into the parking lot of Hampton’s Marathon. While waiting to complete the turn, Mason’s vehicle was struck in the rear by a 1994 Chevrolet pickup. The Chevrolet pickup then fled the scene. While investigating the initial collision, Units received a report of second motor vehicle collision a short distance away involving the hit and run vehicle. Units responded to the secondary collision, locating the hit and run vehicle (1994 Chevrolet pickup). The Chevrolet pickup was operated by Alonzo Holbrook age 41 of Neat Street Nancy. Holbrook was arrested at the scene and charged with the following:

Leaving the Scene of an Accident Possession of Open Container of Alcoholic Beverage in a Motor Vehicle nd Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence Alcohol/Drugs 2 (aggravated circumstance) nd Wanton Endangerment 2 (2 Counts) Mason and a passenger in her vehicle, Jessica Putbrese age 32 of Furlong Avenue Burnside, were treated at the scene and transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital by the Somerset Pulaski EMS. Holbrook was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center, investigation into the collision is continuing by the Burnside Police Department. Units were assisted at the scene by the Burnside Volunteer Fire Department, Somerset Pulaski EMS, and the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office.
